I recently got a 99 V92. When I decelerate, down to 15 and below, I could feel it kind of lunging, I thought it was just the engine idle or something. I realized today it was the rear brakes now fully disengaging, I too off the rear back pads and they definitely need to be replaced as you can tell from the attached pictures. But my question is why would they not be letting go of the rotor? Is there something else I need to check?

The piston in the caliper might be sticking cause the caliper is dirty. Before pushing pistons inn go to auto parts store and buy some break cleaner. Spray them down good. Now set old pads in place and with a flat screw driver put between old pads and twist side ways to force pistons in.
Do not push on pedal till new pads are in place mounted on rotor.
Go to Dennis Kirk and order some EBC pads they stop 80% better then stock. You'll have to search first for p/n
Once new pads are in place listen for dragging or if you can get back wheel off ground spin wheel and listen for dragging.

Reasons your brakes would drag: to much fluid in the reservoir, brake pedal not returning completely to rest position, compensating port plugged, corrosion of exposed parts, contaminated fluid, Pilot error=riding the brakes. If it's a pulsing your floating rotor's (front & rear)rivets may be jammed up with brake dust and need cleaned out. put some new pads on, clean everything up and get some new fluid in and see where you're at. I highly recommend Speed Bleeders-makes fluid replacement a snap(SB8125). EBC pads & Motul 5.1 full synthetic brake fluid.
