Great news for the 2014 NC Victory Rally.

The one and only KevinX will be able to attend for installations and upgrades.

This is a tremendous opportunity for riders in the southeast who don't get a chance to have one of the greats do mods and tune.

We need 4+ bikes to commit. I can get that info to Kevin who'll schedule you up for goodies.

PM me to sign up. I'm trying to help do the sign up leg work getting the information to Kevin so he can schedule the work. Certainly consult with KevinX (Kevin Cross) of Southern Motorworx for your individual needs.

Please list the details below when you sign up to say "I'm in"

Name and Contact info.
Year
Model
Current mods/add-on’s (exhaust, tuner, etc)
What you’d like to have done

See you there in September in Maggie Valley!
Ride safe!

Hey bsbabcock,
I'm curious, where are we at with this? Do we have enough bikers to have KevinX come out yet?

Many bites.. Much interest.. No definite "sign me ups" sent to me. Might have been sent to Kevin, but I've not heard of them. Which I find extremely strange...

Great opportunity for NC, TN, SC, VA, KY folks to have one of the four greats put some horsepower into their scoot and make it run unlike anything before, which I can confirm from experience having seen the light, without a massive commute to Florida, or mid-west or new England. Heck just a timing wheel filter and a great tune would be a huge wonderful improvement. Cams being icing on the cake.

So if you wanna have something done by KevinX, please contact him, discuss and sign up for the Maggie Valley Rally. He just needs four scoots or so to make it worth the wrench time.

Heck, I'd love to simply try some different slip-ons and have him tune a map for them at the rally, which isn't much, but it'd be great convenience for me in my own backyard.

I can't make that one as it's my 22nd anniversary and we already have beach plans but a friend of mine was going to get his done @ Myrtle but might be more interested in having them done a week earlier and closer to home so I've sent him the link to this thread.

Have him contact KevinX pronto and commit to having work done at the event. Have him let me know also how that goes. Time's getting short and dunno if we can get enough bikes up there. Hell, I'd like to just get mine dyno'd with some different slip-ons.

Talk the Mrs to come to WNC for the event and I'd see what I can do to get you passes to the Biltmore house. Great spot for an anniversary. :)

Thanks but the wife works in the blood bank of a hospital and sees dead bikers every week. She won't get on a bike but we did enjoy the Biltmore and Navitat for our 20th a few years back.

Can anyone confirm KevinX's attendance? I heard that he was not going to make it since there was not enough attendance confirmed for this rally. It seems the organization of this event was somewhat lacking.

He had to cancel the cam party due to only one bike to sign up.

He's in Florida I believe at present.. Just posted a dyno chart on his FB page.

Were you the singular CONFIRMED client? In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the organization or Kevin's decision. Everyone should understand that this is a business for these vendors and if they attend, they have to forego other revenue elsewhere so a minimum number of client's is needed order to justify traveling.

Kevin as as well as organizer's of this event hit every website's forums (numerous times over the 2 months leading into this) in the attempt to drive some additional interest so the reason Kevin is not at this event is not a ding on either the event organizers or Kevin.

I was/am interested in getting CAMs and would have been there had this event not coincided with my Anniversary (I am in Charleston this weekend). I also have another friend that would have joined me but he also has an annual event (bicycle ride to Myrtle Beach & Back for charity) that occurs this weekend every year.

Rather, the fault would be directed at those wanting service but not taking the time (in advance) of letting the organizers (or kevin) know of their interest.

Heck I couldn't even go. I gotta work all weekend. No there was another guy that signed up actually. I was trying to drum up the bikes to get him up there as a member of the hosting BRVR chapter.

I spoke to another vendor that was invited and he mentioned that there seemed to be a general lack of organization. I myself posted a question on this forum and it took the better part of a week to get a response. All good, looks like this is a new event so maybe next year we'll work out the kinks and have better luck with attendance and organization. Great area for a rally and usually a great time of year to be up there.

Well given that it's also a brand new chapter of folks and the prez works as much as I do as well. We're a very new chapter so doing what we could. We were basically glad to find a spot, host hotel etc, get rides and stuff together etc. I couldn't even go down there and help this weekend.

Lack of Attendance

I believe the main reason that there was only one or two sign up is the different perspective from the newer generation of buyers.

I see WAAAY more Vics on the road in my travels than I ever have. I was one of the first generation of Vic buyers (on my 5th one...) and in the begining , we all got into MORE POWER. I've run custom exhaust, tuners, built custom air boxes and work with another guy building custom Vics from ground up for a couple of years. But times change. Money needs change. Hell, we get older (DAMMIT !!!).

A LOT of todays buyers are leaving the bike bone stock (as far as performance) or going with Stage 1 simply for louder exhaust. Being the biggest, baddest or fastest means nothing to these guys. They buy a bike that fits and is reliable; looks good, and ride the piss out of them. Nothing wrong with that. But a large portion of the new Vic purchasers now, will likely spend money on bling for their bikes, rather than performance.....
