I'm sitting on the fence on which bike I'd prefer, the CC or the CR.

I don't like what they did to the seat on the Cross Roads back in 2011, they narrowed the pillion portion of the seat and it even looks like it tapers down a bit too. I imagine that they narrowed it to work with the softbags and maybe give the seat a more custom look but my wife doesn't care for it.

I'm surprised that Victory didn't include the seat as part of the "core" program. If you're going to go with hardbags and you want a more luxurious seat for your passenger, you could go with the original wide Cross Roads seat(same seat as the CC). I'm sure that both seats cost about the same amount of money to manufacture, so it shouldn't bother Victory either way money-wise, just a straight up swapping out of one for the other.

Or maybe the dealer can work that out when you place an order for a Cross Roads? Maybe he can relay that special request to Victory and you'd get the bike that way.

Has anybody here with a 2011 Cross Roads tried to do this?

Humbucker you still haven't got a bike yet??? That's ok, spend more time researching and wait for the price to drop on the 11's.

To answer your question it is doubtful that you can order a 2011 XR with the wide XC seat because you can't order 11's anymore. Your best bet is going t be finding someone selling or trading a 10 or 11 XC seat. A lot of XC riders want the narrower XR seat because they look better - ask in the classifeds an you'll get responses.

Hey ammo_umb, I'm surprised anybody remembers me since I haven't visited since February. Actually, I was a bit reticent to post anything again on this and any other Victory forums.

Back in February I was pretty cranky with wintertime cabin fever I guess and I went on a bit of a rant complaining about the lack of ABS on the touring bikes (which has now been addressed thankfully) and I also whined about the colours that were available for the Cross Country for 2011.

Of course this being the internet and all, I then received a bit of a tar-and-feathering treatment from many Vic owners out there :) (not saying that I didn't deserve it at the time though) and it might not have even been on this particular forum. No biggie either way, it's the internet after all.

Truth be told, if I was flushed with cash right now I'd have a 2012 CCT on order but the economic climate has me a bit concerned, so we'll see what happens down the road.

I did go to the Victory demo rides earlier this summer and tried out the CR, CC and the Vision. Even though I'm not 100% about the Vision's style, man that bike rode like a dream!

The Cross Roads and Cross Country were a real letdown because the ride felt so harsh, which is the total opposite of what I had read. I'm now convinced that it was all due to the CC and CR rear shock being inflated for a rider only and the Vision must have had more air in the rear shock to take two people.

I had a passenger on all three bikes. I know that there couldn't have been enough air in those rear shocks, it was kind of brutal whenever I went through a bad section of road. My nine year old Vulcan 1600 Classic with its less then stellar shocks when have soaked up those rough spots just as easily and maybe even better, so I knew that something was up.

Then I had what turned out to be a false memory. I thought that the Harleys that I demoed last summer were just as peppy and maybe even had more of a lively feel but later on this summer I went out on the Harley demo rides and they just left me flat to be honest.

The new 103 felt pretty strong but I soon started to feel like I might get tired of the paint-shaker effect at slow speeds or stopped at a light. At first it was a cool novelty but it started to wear on me a bit I think. My Vulcan 1600 Classic feels better to me then the Harley.

So, now that I've proven to myself once more that the Harley probably isn't the way to go, the Victory is back in top spot. And I'm really happy to see that you now get ABS, that was something that I feel is important.

When my financial situation allows it, a Victory will definately be a top contender. I like the local Vic manager here and I think that I could work with him.

There's no denying that these new Cross bikes are the ticket for anybody who's looking for a good solid reliable cruiser/tourer with a big V-twin and that new CCT might be the best deal out there.

I'm hoping that this 'tire-kicker' will be able to graduate to full on owner sometime down the road!:D

Nice Mea Culpa Humbucker but really there's no need.

I too like the XCT so much I'm transforming my '11 XC into one. Actually one plus a whole lot more but that's neither here nor there as far as picking a new bike out.

For me the XC is the quintessential bike. Not perfect but dang near perfect for a production bike so I can take it the rest of the way in my way in my time.

If I were in the market for a new bike; it would definitely be the XCT. It's all there and then some.

Good luck in your search and I certainly hope your financial situation allows some more leeway in your buying power soon.

I gave you a little jab on the colors but then I posted links that showed a dealer in Minnesota and Arizona Victory have both floored XC's and XR's with custom paints. I saw a lot of other people on other forums were pretty rough. I'm pretty sure they'd all stop to help if they saw a Vic on the side of the road but many of them wouldn't take time to talk to you in any other situation. I quit going to one of the forums just because of the way they treat people. It's almost like they consider the internet a safety net; they can say whatever they want to whoever they want and not have to worry about it.

I'm glad to hear you gave HD a chance an not too surprised that you left with the same opinion I did after HD demos. They are nice high bikes with high quality finishes but they feel like antiques.

If you had a rough ride on either of the X bikes they were not aired correctly for the load. I've ridden quite a few of them and they all had a great ride except the 1st one. When I got back to the dealer I checked it and it was a 12lbs - a little low for about 340 lbs...

Good luck with the finances and hope to hear you worked things out to get the bike you want soon. Keep in mind that most dealers don't have 12's floored or stocked yet and once they get them the 11's will drop. That may be the time for you to jump on the red you were loking for. Also note the the 11 XR came in Crimson until last April when they discontinued the color and replaced it with Sunset Red which is a brighter metallic red.

I had the same issue. I found a 2011 Cross Country seat on ebay and swapped my XR seat out. The wife likes the new wider cushier seat much better. I would also say the padding is more pronounced in the back of the driver seat vs. the standard XR seat. I think Victory should have made this choice part of the CORE program.

Thanks for chiming in guys.

I remember feeling that the new Vics on this summer's demo ride felt a bit like something was missing, while they had impressive power once off the starting line, there was something lacking that I couldn't at first put my finger on.

I gave it some thought afterwards and it was just that they were just too smooth and too quiet for what I'm used to anyway. All that I'd need is a pair of decent after-market pipes, that would liven things up.

My Vulcan has a set of Muzzys "cruiser drag pipes" and they are just about perfect IMHO. Nice low thumping rumble, not too loud but they come alive when pushed. With a set of pipes that would get me in that ballpark, the Victorys would have sounded and felt more like what I'm used to.

I was really impressed with the way that the Vics would haul ass when coming onto the throttle, lots of power and since it's a modern engine design, it should be good for many years of happy motoring.

We can thank the EPA and the noise police for it being so quiet. Manufacturers have to abide by a stricter set of rules than people making aftermarket parts.

In some parts of the country the noise police are comin' on strong.

Yeah, there are areas in my province that are starting to crack down on loud pipes. But if they'd just go after the really annoying guys, I'd actually applaud it. Some guys make so much noise, they're just asking for a fine. They are so loud, it's stupid.

But I suppose we'll all end up getting dinged too because of their stupidity. Typical.

Actually, I just like a nice low deep rumble with a little bit of snort when coming onto the throttle, that's enough for me. Maybe the Victory Stage 1 upgrade would be just about right.

Do you suppose that with the Stage 1 upgrade, you'd still potentially get in trouble with the boys in blue? From what I've read, it's a bit subtle and not really offensive. And with the performance boost of the Stage 1, does your gas mileage suffer a lot?

One other thing that I should mention about the Harley was that it dawned on me that I was being crammed a bit. I'm not a giant, I'm six feet tall with a 32" inseam but the Road King and EG Classic felt so much smaller then my Vulcan 1600 Classic.

And then when my wife got on the back, she felt that we were pushed together a bit too much. She liked the ride while under way but didn't much care for all of the shaking when slowing down and stopping. It feels a bit primative really. The engine pulled noticeably better then my 1600 Classic and was more comfortable over all but in the end, it's not the bike for me.

My wife also has a bit of a bias against the Harley brand too, so she's always swayed more towards the Victory brand. She did find that there was much more room on the CC and CR.

Too bad they didn't have the rear shocks inflated for two people the day that we demoed them, it gave her a false impression of the ride quality but I did inform her that it was just a simple problem of not having enough air in the shocks, nothing wrong with the bikes, they just weren't set up properly.
