Canadian Victory Forum?

Hi there, I am new to the site and on the verge of becoming a first time Victory owner. Currently have a Suzuki Boulevard - but got bit by the Victory bug a year ago. I currently have my eye on an '06 8-Ball, and have wrestled with giving up the 6th gear offered by the Vegas (anybody have any feedback??). I live in Calgary and our local Victory dealership sucks to deal with - so I am looking at the private market instead. I guess for starters I was hoping to find a local chapter of the Victory Riders Association or at least see if there are other groups available in Western Canada.

i know thevmc.com has a canada chapter.
hey guys. So how's Calgary for a riding season KevDave? Do you have a good few months for it? I've been thinking about doing a Canadian Tour. I'm told it's quite beautiful.

Hey there,
Depends where you are coming from and what you are looking for in the landscape I guess. I am originally from Winnipeg and the thought of a Canadian tour across Manitoba or Saskatchewan is enough to put me to sleep. I live in Calgary now - so when I head out 90% of the time it is towards the mountains. I went on vacation this year in the BC interior (by car) - but will be going back to travel it on the bike next summer. Gorgeous scenery, lots of ups/downs, curves, rock faces, wild life...etc. That would be my idea of a bike tour anyways. Where do you live and what is the riding like there?
Hi KevDave
I also live in Calgary and also had a Boulevard that I sold and bought a new 07 Vegas last summer , I bought it especially because it was a 6 speed [very smooth on the road].
I went from a 2004 Volusia (Boulevard) to an 08 Vegas 8 ball.
I didn't have the six speed on my Volusia so I dont have anything to compare it too but I kind of wish that I did have a sixth gear on the 8 Ball. It's not a big deal since most of my riding is in traffic back and forth to work but it would be nice on long rides.
I have the stage 1 swept pipes and being able to kick into 6th gear would bring down the noise level a little bit.

What is it with Suzuki Boulevards and Victories? I have a C50 Boulevard....and just purchased an '06 Kingpin....100 cu and 6 speed. Brought it up from Portland, Oregon.....and just got it registered and insured today. Absolutely LOVE IT!

Anyone know if there are any groups in BC dedicated to Victory owners?:)
Hi KevDave, I'm in Airdrie, I too have the 6 spd on my 08 JP and love it. There's a bunch of Victory owners that usually meet at the A&W in Airdrie every Wed night 6 to 8. There's also a Calgary Victory club, check them out at http://victoryriderscalgary.webs.com
Hope this helps.

Mooneyac.

Welcome.. And do not give up 6th gear.... It's a beautiful thing....I am headed for my third Victory. Had a KPT, sold it to get the XR. Got crashed by a cager in July. Now just pulled the trigger on a deal in AZ. Unfortunately, I could not get the deal I wanted from Cycleworks in Calgary. The sales guy, Kimble, was great. His GM wouldnt go for the deal I wanted and wouldnt counter offer either, so I looked elsewhere.....you should check out Elk Island Victory. Its a hike about 3 hours but has a good rep...... try the 40 loop through Kananaskis for a nice day ride.
I'm in Red Deer, being on the Prarie you"ll like 6th gear. As far as dealers, Don at elk island has been my fav. He sold me my first Vegas which got written off last fall. Well worth the call/drive. I got my second one, named mulligan, from parkland here in red deer. They were very quick to have my bike ready which was great but I bought a shirt there a bit ago and they wouldn't give me 10% off. Pretty sad.

Ps, if you scroll waaaay down the main forum pg you'll find a Rockies section. Inside there is an Alberta thread, it's been pretty slow mind you. Everyone must be out ridin".
Cheers
