Well ya gotta have snow for Christmas. No snow here just very cold. 16 degrees at moment and only going to get colder.

It's 28 here at 0625. No snow expected. I'm thinking about a trip into the mountains to do some aerial filming or possibly over to Oatman where the wild burros come into town daily.

Don't know if your neighbor knows it or not but it is highly illegal n the state of TN to keep a wild animal, especially game animals without a permit. It is also bad for the deer as they will get aggressive when they get toward maturity. There is a reason there are laws against raising them.

He had found it on the side of the road couldn't walk
It is not tied or inside a fence it can leave anytime time it wants

And yet what he is doing with the deer is still probably illegal - good for the deer as otherwise it would be dead but illegal. The law sometimes does not makes sense. Per the law in this case, it would be better for this deer to be dead than cared for.

I agree on the chili but it's hard to eat pets. We raised rabbits for food when I was a kid until I started naming them. That was the end of it.

Back when we had a house cow an my young daughter helped me milk it, we tackled that issue by naming the first cute little calf Breakfast. You can guess the names of the next two.
