Just love it when they use our hard earned tax dollars against us. There are a few bikes out there that may need clamping down on but we all know this is just another "revenue enhancement" tool at our expense.

It seems this time they are including "hotrods" as well, must be trying to get around the technicality of singling out bikes. From the comments on there, alot of people are also thinking city buses and refuse trucks should be included, but we all know if those vehicles trigger the 'trap' they will just get voided once they process the tickets.

Typical law enforcment...instead pf preventing real crime lets just make up some s??t. My philosophy is they are not crime prevention but more like crime scene documentation specialist.:ltr:

Albany, NY has one...

Along the purportedly artsy/boutiquey Lark Street in downtown Albany, APD had a portable trailer set up (with press releases too) measuring noise this past August. I don't know if it spat out tix or not, but they did post other electronic billboards at city entrances warning of the Lark St crackdown.

At the time, I was only on my BMW, but now have a new Stage 1 setup on my new HamS...could be interesting next summer.

Frankly, I agree with them, as most of the Harley Heads purposely pound those ear-spliiting pipes along this crowded, two-lane street, just for the thrill of it. I can't think of anyone they are impressing. Also, the Jap bikes are not above reproach either, with their after-market setups, but they usually are more highway, high-rpm tuned.

Someone in our local club also mentioned that Saratoga Springs has begun similar monitoring. Could get interesting. wac

Geez like said ....you think they would work harder at finding criminals instead of that crap..
Gov't loses money on criminals...

I agree that lame brains with straight pipes can be a bit irritating at times, but in the scheme of things, their need for attention is a pretty trivial annoyance.

I lost my little doggie of almost 18 years this morning, so I guess maybe my perspective was re-calibrated today.

i like how it works around here. dont be stupid-dont get pulled over.

i live in town and i can hear bikes in the middle of the night bouncing off the limiter two blocks away on the main road, it dosent really annoy me, but if i lived right-off that road, im sure it would irritate me.
my big issue around here isn't the bikes though, its the damn diesel trucks with the tool bag in the drivers seat trying spew black smoke all over the road and be as loud and obnoxious as possible. and these trucks can put some of the loudest bikes to shame, thing is, they are legal! their turbo counts as a muffler so they pass inspection!

sorry for your loss! i lost my childhood pup of 14 years a couple months ago. sucks to see them go.

Oh No! I was admiring his picture just yesterday, thinking how spritely he seemed. Have been through this many times, compounded by the fact that my Newfs have shortish life spans (~11); 18 is remarkable, must have been a tough little pooch. Best wishes.

In all reality there are a few that need the ticket. I do think a lawyer could beat it. If there going to start picking on bikes for noise think what ells should be included.
Trucks
cars
chain saws
Lawn mores
autos with loud music
Weed whackers

Sorry to say it only was one biker making a lot of noise in front of a wedding part where the mayor and city councilmen were. So monday they past a law with a $500 dollar fine and that law spread like wild fire to all the other states.
Yes its a shame and now sooner or later we will all suffer. If you look in all the parts catalog all exhaust manufacturers now have quiet pipes.
Its the future and there is nothing we can do about it.
