I'm finding that the power to weight ratio of my vn1600 leaves something to be desired.

I was wondering if there's anybody here that had a Vulcan 1600 prior to owning a CR/CC? How much more "get up and go" does the CR/CC have in a direct comparison?

I would imagine that handling and breaking is a lot better on the Victory bikes too?

Some years back I had a 1500 Nomad, great bike, but it does not hold a candle to my XC!!!

I came from a 2053 cc Vulcan. I now have a cammed XR. Everything about the XR is an improvement except for the low-end torque. The XR is a faster bike with my mods, I'm told, but you have to get the engine spinning to get it moving. The Vulcan could lay rubber by simply hitting the throttle in first gear. The XR doesn't pull till 3K rpm.

Kind of. I had a Mean Streak. Handling is comparable, with the Meanie besting it slightly. But, considering this bike is 100lbs heavier and a bagger, that's to be expected. Braking and acceleration are about the same in my opinion, though I don't have any numbers to back it up.

Not sure I can answer adequately or not...but here goes..I still have my 08 Vulcan Classic 1500 and late last summer bought my XCT. WAYYYY different bikes.

There are still things I like about the Vulcan; hydraulic clutch, a smoother (tighter?) trannie, the great Mustang seats I put on it....But the Tour is different in some ways and better in others. Different is the transmission; it took some getting used to the roughness of shifts and the BANGing of the first three gears. It's getting a little smoother now but again it takes some getting used to. (I'm told the first three gears are straight cut to help deal with the gobs of torque coming from 106 cubes and the last three gears are spiral cut, true or not; don't know.. but that's what I was told).

Comfort-wise, there's no comparision; the heated grips and seat came in handy this morning, the wind management via the lowers and new windshield and the fairing winglets allow me to tailor the wind to full-blown or almost nothing (even to the point of being able to enjoy a fine cigar while riding). Cruise and radio are great pluses as well (even though nobody can figure out why I get AM reception while stopped but almost nothing while moving/FM reception is fine all the time).

I'm not a real hard rider, so I can't tell you which is better at the limits of performance and handling. But they're really two very different machines...I wouldn't expect them to be produce the same handling characteristics especially. The fairings and trunk on the XCT DO catch a fair amount of cross-winds...that was a learning curve too, but once you get it wound up and the cruise set, I can see covering a lot more miles a lot more comfortably on the XCT. The Vulcan has a wider power curve, it can pull like a tractor at lower RPMs, but the Vic power curve feels a lot stronger in a narrower range.

Maybe the XCT is not the best for a daily to/from work rider that the Vulcan can be, but again, one's a crusier and one's a Tourer.

I traded in my 2007 Nomad for a 2012 XCT. I find it superior in every aspect but may agree with one of the other poster's comments about the clutch and tranny, and that low end torque is not as good. Obviously the two are not directly comparable due to tourer vs cruiser, but based on what I know now, I think I would have been happier with a XR instead of the Nomad. But I'm really glad I got the XCT.

I came from a 1600 Nomad. It is not a racer, but has plenty of power and torque. I had mine with custom intake, fuel processor, and V&H pipes, and it ran good but it is geared for touring, like these bikes. Braking is plenty good too, they use tokiko brakes with duals up front.

With that being said, Vic's are hands down better to me. Specs wise, they have more suspension travel, inverted forks, lose the radiator, steel braided lines, lower center of gravity, better MPG, bigger tank, more range, and on and on.

Another positive about going from my Vulcan to my Vic is the little bit of "approval" I actually get from some HD owners. With the Vulcan all I got was dirty looks, but now I get the positive remarks I so desperately seek from them.....
