Caught a segment on the news the other night, and then a promotion during the Indy car race in Iowa, about the increasing popularity of E-85 fuel. One of them {I forget which} indicated it was soon to become the standard ?? I question that but still, anyone know what Victory says about it ? In existing or future engine designs from them?

Don't use it in an existing motorcycle engine. As for the "standard", well we have to use what we can get. Even the engines made to use E85 get poor mileage and many have expressed other problems. Not sure what all of them are or if it is design or fuel.

The EPA is hell bent on destroying the environment. Corn is about the poorest thing to make fuel quality ethanol from, and the most costly.

Sugar cane and switch-grass are the best, but we don't have a good supply of that. Good ideas on paper, but many of the things the US is using to make ethanol requires more energy to produce the product produces. Not all that good a long term program.

Lots of "feel good" ideas going around and making certain folks wealthy, but that is the real jewel of the program, not fuel independence.

It is all an emotional terror program. Emotions don't feed the hungry or run a nation.

I'm going to guess that every manufacturer of vehicles will approve of going to E-15 because it means that all older vehicles before certain years become unusable.

Gets all those older bikes and cars off the road and forces people to buy new ones. Corporate welfare through regulation. Isn't that a primary duty of the government?

E15 already works in older engines.... not very efficiently, but i works.

It isn't that it doesn't work, It's the damage it does to plastics, tank liner compounds, floats and rubber components that weren't designed to work with it.
Remember when tanks weren't even coated inside? Try that now with high ethanol fuels and you will be trying to deal with the rust from the water bound to the alcohol.

Yes it all works for a while till things start to degrade and fail. A few failures and most people start looking for a different ride, car, mower etc. As used compatible vehicles etc go up in value when supply and demand take over , some folks buy new. Stimulates the economy etc. It's a bonus for manufacturers because there are fewer older models to support with obsolete parts etc. which ties up resources.

However if your the one now stuck with an older non compatible machine, it's a huge waste of your resources rebuying what you already own because a politician made it obsolete. I guess it depends on where you stand in the food chain. From my position at the bottom it sucks. If I were a manufacturer of new vehicles it might look pretty good.

well yea. Thats a given.

Check out my thread from last year about having to rebuild my pump and recoat my tank because of the previous owner.

I've got a bunch of vehicles that we have built or bought that were built as special purpose vehicles. A old chevy pickup truck converted to a dump truck, an old wagoneer converted to a snow plow and more. Then there is our collection of older bikes a well as the log splitter and mowers etc
It has become quite a hassle dealing with old gas now that gas no longer stores long term. I am hoping the government doesn't do me any more favors in the short term. E10 sucks. E15 will really suck.
