We know that some complain about heat. I believe the majority of it comes from the header pipes / collector / crossover although some does come from the jugs.

There are a couple products made for the Harley to combat this. Here's one ...

What I'd like to see is a fan system that disperses / redirects the exhaust header pipe heat away from the rider and passenger.

Anyone know if such a thing exists?

There is a vision guy here that has mounted a couple of computer fans on his bike blowing air at the motor. He said there were dirt cheap and they did help cause he does a lot of rush hour riding.
He turned them on for me and they did put out a good breeze. The only problem I see is if you were blowing them on the header or even the motor they wouldn't drop the temperature that much.
That leather one looked nice but it cools such a small area I don't think you would feel a change but your brain would tell you yes. Wrapping your headers might do some good but it would never be enough.
Harbor freight sells temp guns for 40 bucks so you could see if it did any good

Being as I'm in the computer biz, I happen to have a "few" of those fans LOL

Also have a laser temp gun.

I have heard of people putting fans on the oil cooler to drop the oil temp 30 degrees.

In the early days of Victory they used to put an overly large oil cooler on them. They found they worked too good so they scaled them down to what we have today. I wonder what would happen if someone installed a second oil cooler with a thermostat switch to bypass the second one until a certain temp was reached. I bet it would help quite a bit. Maybe WD will come out with a kit someday.

Much of the heat on the right comes from the cat in the rear exhaust pipe. It gets extremely hot but isn't a big deal until air flow from stop and go traffic becomes a problem. Wrapping that pipe down and past the collector might help or simply removing it would help but then there might be some tuning issues. I'm sure you would want to remove both cat's.

The rear cylinder is also offset to the right a bit so we will naturally feel the heat more on the right because of that along with the exhaust coming out that side.

This is almost always an issue for the XCT riders which tells me the XCT lowers have something to do with the airflow issue. I wonder if some fairly powerful fans could be installed where the glove boxes are and aimed right at the cylinders with a manual on/off switch on the dash would fix this issue during slow traffic high heat build up times. Maybe just one in the right one.

There are fans made for Harleys that mount where the horn goes to reduce heat at the fins but that's not what I'm after.

I'm thinking the idea you mention might be too far away to have significant effect.

Now, if a fan could be mounted inside the cavity area behind the rear jug that blew down right where that header collector area is ....

I sent an email to a manufacturer of one of those Harley fans asking if they plan on coming out with something such as I'm describing for the Victory ... no response as yet.

If I had the wherewithall, I'd make one, put a patent on it, market it, and make zillions!

Well there is a large enough gap right there to mount one. Would just be a matter of making it look nice so it wouldn't look like a big 'ole zit.

I just noticed you already have the Cat's out. Did it make a difference?

I was thinking of using one of those already made for Harley.

Before spending that kinda cash tho, I think I'd mount some other kind of high output fan that didn't cost a lot. Something small and pushes a lot of air. They wouldn't be good in the long run as they're probably not water proof but would give a good indication of what the results would be.

I just noticed you already have the Cat's out. Did it make a difference?
Yes, quite a bit.

Fan Ideas

I'm thinking along the lines of the following fans as a tester ...

Something in the 1.6" or 2" with around 9 or better cfm and it just so happens I might have one or two.
