In order to install the trailer hitch on my 2016 c.f., I had to remove the charcoal canister. I then coupled the tank hose and the purge hose together. Can anyone give me insight on any possible effects from this?

so you have one hose plugged into the other. Guess you live in CA and looks like a CX model bike can't make out the year

I had a Valkyrie produced for the California market. I don't recall why I removed the charcoal evap canister, but I did. No ill side effects. It is simply a place to absorb gasoline vapors before they vent to the atmosphere. The evap canister vents to the atmosphere of the outside world.

I don't know what the configuration looks like on the Vic. I imagine the line feeding the evap canister would be the end of the line sans canister. Its simply a place for gas fumes to escape to the atmosphere.

if you have one plugged into the other then it can't vent

I have a California bike with the canister off, just let them hang. Mine was removed by the Ness dealer in Dublin. No problems with the bike that way.
