As with others on the forum I noticed after purchasing the XC that when I shifted I'd get a frequent "Pop" from the exhaust. The comments I've read have ranged from "Let it break in" to "Replace the timing wheel", to "That's just what they do." Since returning to Wyoming and 5,000+ feet above sea level I've noticed that it has not once "Popped" on a shift, even on a cold engine. Apparently it runs rich enough up there that the popping has become a non issue.

Ya know, I really hadn't thought about that seeing as I live @ 90 miles from the Gulf and am a whopping 300 feet above sea level. But.....it makes sense that as air density decreases AFR would richen up some.

better mpg

Years ago had a friend with a fuel injected Dodge pickup truck. He said it ran great in the mountains and got much better mpg. They do run lean, not just the Victorys.
