Dropped the size of the front pulley from 33 teeth to 31. Love the gearing, but the rear axle was all the way back. Belt tension was perfect, but having no adjustment bothered me. Stock belt is 147 teeth. Contacted Gates... no 145 tooth belts.

My friend sent me an e-mail with a link to the belt for a Buell 1125R which is 145 teeth. The 1125 is pretty high powered, so should be OK. Installed today.

If anyone is interested...

I was surprised to find out that the smaller pulley is not very popular. On the 2006-2007 Vics the gearing... especially first gear.... is exceptionally tall. The 31 tooth pulley makes the bike feel like it should. I didn't ride mine more than a couple of weeks before I started looking for a smaller pulley.

I was talking to Joe and he said the same thing. He couldn't understand why most owners of '06/'07 Vics don't want one (he did it within a couple of months of buying his KP too).

Don't want to spend money making the bike more potent? Nothing like a small gearing change... at 70 mph it turns 175 more rpm in 6th, and at 80 MPH it turns 210 more rpm... it's really not that big a change at cruise... but the bike feels snappier through the gears for sure.

Any idea on how the gearing on a Kingpin compares to a XC?

Might this work on a XC, or are there too many differences?

"for 06 & up narrow tire bikes, Vision, Cross Bikes, KingPin & Vegas"

All I know is that the gearing was changed in 2008 (lower 1st), but the Kingpin and CC both spin 3000 at 80 mph...

I feel the bike needs a taller gear if you have more torque.. make the engine work... i always hit the rev limiter on the dam thing and top it out before i know it... if you have the torque.. make it work

Lower geaing multiplies the torque even more, right? If you're hitting the rev limiter you need a tach and you need to shift sooner.

I have enough torque to take off from stops in 2rd gear uneventfully, but... even with the shorter gearing, having a 6700 rpm rev limit gives the bike long legs, meaning it will do over 60 in 1st and like 100 in 3rd and never see the limiter.

When I got the bike making some big torque I felt like you do... so I put the stock pulley back on for a long trip. Regretted it the whole time.

Increasing the rev limit will do nothing unless the engine is still building power after the stock rev limit. You need to keep the engine in a range of RPM where it makes power.

Not sure where your stock limiter is, but mine was at 5800. My best times at the drags were when shifting around 5600 RPM. If your engine is fairly stock, you may need to shift at 5000.

R-1s spin to what, 12,500 rpm? That's more than double the revs of the Victory big twin. Apple and orange.

Here... This is how my bike would compare to a GSXR 1000.

He's just starting to make some power at 7000 RPM, where my engine won't even rev that high. However, I make more torque off-idle than he will make, well, EVER.

Hi Guys,

I am searching for a write-up for installing a under drive pulley on a VISION that has a reversed gear...

As you can see from the pictures it does not quite fit the reverse gear.....

Does this mean that the reverse gear ring will NOT BE INSTALLED ??

Anybody installed the underdrive-pulley on a '14 or '13 VISION already ???

Thanks guys

I'm not at HC power level, but I have had my Buel belt and UD pulley for a few months and 1500 hard miles. Looks great!

Just ordered my underdrive pulley yesterday (they have been back ordered since November) as Scott says they will be in next week. Pretty stoked about it and can't wait to try it out....

I'm 99.9% sure it says right on the CC website that the underdrive pulley will NOT work with reverse gear...
