This may be an absolutely silly question, but i'm going to ask just to be safe. The helmet that I wear cuts out a very significant amount of noise when I ride. I tend to not hear a whole lot of little things. Today I was on the bike for a couple miles without a helmet and couldn't help but notice every bump in the road, i'm able to clearly hear my front forks compressing. I can hear the air release from them. Not like it's deafening, but I can definitely hear the sound clearly.

Just wondering if this is normal for them to be noisy like that, or if there might be something wrong with them...

Had an 09 Vegas and never noticed the sound, but I realize the XC is much heavier...maybe the front fairing contributes to it... I don't know. Just a new sound to me and want to make sure all is well.

Thanks everyone.

run your finger around the fork tube by the seal. If its wet you have a leak.
Roll the bike in the garage and hit the front brake hard and maybe you can here a leak or see if fluid is leaking.
