OK OK, perhaps I over stated my intelligence……..(where is Dr Karl on Triple J when you need him )
But I believe it’s got something to do with the lag in the warming or cooling effect of weather patterns.
e.g. when it’s the summer solstice, the additional solar energy absorbed (mainly into the sea) takes a good 4-6 weeks to trigger the weather patterns that gives us the hottest conditions of summer 4-6 weeks later……..the reverse applies to winter.

I am an armature photography hobbyist and I'm sure there are others here also. I'm starting a thread for random photos, tips, tricks and so on.
I use a Nikon D300 as my main camera and my trusty old Nikon D40. The D300 pretty much has a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens on it all the time and the D40...

Bushfires all over the place, many just out of control,
lives being lost, volunteer firefighters battling exhaustion.
Its serious downunder, some caused by firebugs and kids fooling with fire, others from careless cigarette butts flicked out car windows.
