Ladies & Gents-

I'm looking for input from HARDBALL owners. I would like to know what is your impression on the bike in the following areas:
1. Comfort
2. Touring
3. Urban/Around town maneuverability
4. Performance
5. Handling
6. Overall- impression/ Cool Factor

I purchased a Vegas 8 ball about 2 weeks ago. I think it is a "class" leader and just an amazing bike. This is my first victory and I am so very impressed. I love the Vegas, but I am strongly considering bike #2. I can get a Demo HARDBALL for about 3K off MSRP. I am strongly considering it as second bike. The purpose would be to use for longer jaunts on the interstate and multi day trips. That said, I would ditch the APES, put on vegas bars and add a detachable windshield.

The Rider: 5'9, 180lbs. mid 30s. I have been riding for several years and have over 20K miles under my belt. I have owned muscle cruisers and naked sport bikes in the past.

Looking forward to your input.

My 2011 XR has the Hard Ball apes on. The only thing I cannot comment is the paint on the HardBall or the spoke wheels, but my XR with HB apes is one great scoot. No issues with handling, keeps your armpits well ventilated, and for my 5'10" frame it fits like a glove, and is comfortable on short and longer trips. thumb up As far as cool factor is concerned, you shouldn't have any doubts, as the HardBall speaks for itself. cheers

I'm not sure what you are wanting to do with your apes but i'm looking to add those apes to my vegas...would love to swap you. If you get the bike of course.

Cant do apes- not yet at least. If I get the bike. we can swap bars.

Lesson 1: Victories come in two flavors. Aluminum chassis tourers and steel framed cruisers. Except for tire, handlebar, and tank sizes there ain't much difference. The only notable difference is the tourers have the best ground clearance and suspensions.

Great input. I don't have a windshield on my vegas- I know what you mean about the "knuckles". I recently put a mini windshield, on it- returned it today, as I was not happy with the performance. I think a windshield is a must from the Hardball

1. Comfort - VERY comfortable .. wife loves the wide back seat, but the sissy bar hits her a little wrong, so we're looking to get it shaved down some to fit her better
2. Touring - HUGE saddle bags! love the fact that I can pack a whole weekend's worth of clothes in there & still have room to spare. MUCH more room than some of the guys' HD's I ride with.
3. Urban/Around town maneuverability - handles like a champ. don't have any issues getting around town or on the open road.
4. Performance - can't beat that 106" engine with 6 gears .. guys in my club always give me **** about being the fastest bagger in the group. haha
5. Handling - again, handles like a champ! I can carve the twisties with the best of them & the balance of the bike is like none I've ever ridden - I've had probably 10 bikes over the years & well over 100,000 miles on them and this is by far the best handling & most comfortable bike I've ever ridden
6. Overall- impression/ Cool Factor - ALWAYS get compliments on the bike everywhere I go. People have actually turned around to come back to a gas station just to talk to me about the bike

as for the apes ... they ARE adjustable, so if they're a little too high for you, just pull them back towards you. I don't know why you'd want to get rid of them .. they're actually quite comfortable. plus, get the bat wing for it & not the windshield ... talk about killing the look of an awesome looking bike ... try riding it with the handlebars adjusted properly & you'll probably change your mind on getting rid of them

You guys aren't helping my second-guessing on not going with a Hard-Ball instead of my High-Ball. The single only reason I didn't (besides bumping from mid $13k to darn near $19k is the seat height.. I'm told the Hard-Ball seat is a lower profile than the typical Cross bike, so I'd like to find one to sit on to compare to my High-Ball. Though I'm 6'1" I like sitting looooooow so the High-Ball is more a fit, but the trade off for all the Hard-Ball amenities and long-haul comfort may be a good one... someday. thumb up

Hard-Ball Seat Height 26.3 in vs High-Ball Seat Height 25.0 in is a bit of difference.. However, if I went with a Mustang seat to make the High-Ball actually comfortable for any miles, they'd be about the same. Chalking up a point in favor of the Hard-Ball again. Damnit! If I trade, my wife's gonna kill me in my sleep. Any hard-ball guys wanna trade over to a High-Ball? LOL!

Well- that settles it. I'm sold. Actually been sold on that CRUISER platform ( CR.XR) for a while now. I have demo'd both bikes, and loved them. I know the XD is the same thing- just with Apes. I am going to wait until the end of the year, so I I can get a good deal on a 2013. Last Year they have -3K on all victory DEMO bikes at the end of the year. Hopefully it happens again this year

You guys aren't helping my second-guessing on not going with a Hard-Ball instead of my High-Ball. The single only reason I didn't (besides bumping from mid $13k to darn near $19k is the seat height.. I know what you mean by sitting "low" or in "in" the bike vs "high" and "on". I am big fan of sitting in the bikes. Probably one of the major factors in selling my Naked Sports bike- as I was on ON and not IN.

Anyways, why not try to sell your bike private party- so you dont take as much as a loss. Then towards FALL, head into to VIC and snatch a bike on a good CLOSEOUT sale.

I sat on a Hardball with a custom made seat that lowered it a full inch and the bike was lowered 1.5". Add the WOC fairing and you got the baddest $20 000 bagger around. Makes me second guess my Highball.

If you don't want apes, and want a windshield, you can still pick up 2012 Cross Roads in black or red at a few places. My dealer will also swap soft bags for hard bags for $200 to $300...... Already comes with the windshield and no apes for about 13k.

I've seen a few nice used ones for sale here and online as well.

at local watering holes around here some people walk past $20 and $30,000 Harley's to look at my bike so the cool factor is definately there.thumb up

Been waiting since the great crash for another bike. I'm gong zero minutes without from now on. Hehe. :).

Truthfully I beyond love my high-ball, so if anything I'll just add to the stable some years down the road likely. I Invision a cross country with apes maybe. Who knows. Might pick up an older one, send the motor out for big horsepower, and do a one-off custom ground up. Built how I'd want it. Clean and not a wire showing. Vic makes the best looking baggers in my opinion. The XC fairing and body work I think is pure sex. Even the stock skinny signal lights. I love 'em.

Good point. I do like the custom matte black look though. But who knows, if I put the apes back a little- they just might be comfortable.

Well I will tell you this. I seen pictures of the hardball and liked it. So in February 2012 went to the international motorcycle show and got to sit on one finally. I was sold. Didn't ride one at all. So I made a deal with my dealership waited an extra 3 weeks for it. Traded my beloved busa in for my hardball. We unwrapped it out of the crate did my paperwork and away I went
Now comfort wise take time to adjust the bars for you and you will notice a huge difference. For long rides I will bring my bars back a half inch
Looks. I have had some of the most interesting conversations about the bike. Between kids adults and elders. It has gotten all kinds of different names.
Storage you can pack a lot of things in the bags. They are huge. However it is difficult to put a helmet in them
I bought mine in March of 2012 I am hitting over 13 thousand miles and still love riding this thing.
Good luck post pictures when you purchase anything.

From a Busa to a Hardball. Wow how was the adjustment period? ( BTW I am a big BUSA/ZX14) fan. Do you miss not having a super-sport?

I went from a ZX12 to my Triumph Speed Triple. So I too have been wondering how the transition would be...

I went from a ZX-10R to my Hard Ball, if your used to moving quick it takes a little adjustment in that area. Second I ride mine without my fairing all the time at speeds up to 90mph the deciding factor on how hard you have to hold on is if there is a cross wind or headwind. I also have a windscreen I use on rides over 2hrs. I also have a fairing on order since I do allot of 700 mile one day trips to my friends in California, the fariing works great but earbuds get old after 5 hours. The biggest adjustment is just the slow speed handling.

I loved the comfort and being able to cruise, when I moved from California to Arizona I almost fell out of love with riding since the roads cant hold a candle to California canyons. They have good rides dont get me wrong but it isnt like you can hop on the bike point your bike in a direction and have good riding within a 15-20 minutes, it takes a good hour or two to get into real good riding that suits a super bike, and the local track here at Firebird is lame. I used to hit Buttonwillow and Willow Springs and Firebird is maybe half the size of the small track at Willow, meaning very limited fun for a full liter bike.

Anyway the bike is great I love it and love the comfort. It has revived my passion in riding, now that I have a bike suited better to my enviroment. Having bags and being able to ditch a backpack while riding is awesome. I also enjoy the ability to swap helmet styles without looking too funny lol. It is allot of little things that are different but make for a more enjoyable experience if your looking at touring and cruising.
