This is my first post on the forum. I have been studying the vision for several months, and finally pulled the trigger yesterday... the VISION is HOME !!!! cheers

I spent most of the afternoon getting to know her idiosyncrasies; which are really not worthy of mentioning. This motorcycle; the more I rode it; became awfully more comfortable and much more confidence inspiring. She is a BIG girl.

I found myself later this afternoon taking sweeping curves at a much greater lean angle; than I ever have done with my Triumph Rocket or my other two bikes (that I traded in today; my VTX1300R and my Suki Vstrom DL-650). There's something about the way you sit and are viewing the road; and the feel of this machine; that allows you to "dip" her down to the left and right much more confidentially ...at least for me. She feels "safe"....

The mpg gauge (if that is accurate; time will tell) told me that I was attaining 42 mile per gallon; that was with a mix of highway and city streets.

The stock exhaust is REALLY quiet; and even so at speed; wind noise makes it hard to hear the built in AM/FM radio with the four speakers. I mean; the "sound" is loud but it becomes distorted. Probably due to the ****ty helmet that I'm wearing. I was playing with the music stations (need to buy an adapter so I can hook my I-pod up) and I found that the BEST music to listen to for clarity while astride this machine ...was opera music; waltzes, french horns and all that jazz..... you should'a seen the looks I was getting from traffic around me....

Let's see; what else... cruise control (works), louder horn than most OEM bikes; ABS, linked brake system (they recommend using the REAR brake predominately) and that's a hard habit for me to break; I kept trying to use the front exclusively. However, when I engaged the rear break, the bike "hunkered down" equally on the front and rear tires and came to a very smooth and controller stop. No rear tire lockup, no dipping of the front end; it was very unusual to experience deceleration like that.

The windshield can be raised or lowered with a button on the left hand controls. VERY COOL and it's effective for reducing buffeting in the cockpit at speed. Hell; it's just COOL to play with it. Up and down; up and down....

The transmission shifts into first VERY loudly with a great mechanical KLUNK. Higher gears have a klunk as well, but not as pronounced. I guess it's normal; it's "KLUNK" is MUCH greater than the Rocket's clunk.

One thing that I really do not like, and I've mentioned this before (somewhere); the battery sits right behind the lower part of the front fender, and there is absolutely NO protection for it whatsoever; besides the half bracket that holds it in place; in the frame. I've mentioned it to Victory and they said no one has ever had a problem with the battery or the terminals deteriorating from the elements. Whatever; I am going to put something over it to protect it at least a little bit.

Congratulations good looking scoot!
When and if you take the trunk off she will seem much lighter. That trunk puts weight way up from the center of gravity.

I have never read where something hit the battery and broke it. Most guys have battery cables come loose and you can fix that by going to the hardware store and buying two star washers one for each terminal.
The bike is sure pretty i hope your smile never goes away.

Gotta admire the Vision. Really nice swoopy lines. Plenty of storage with the trunk on although I like the way they look with the trunk off a bit better. A person can always have a back seat bag if they don't have a passenger. The Vision has really grown on me over the last couple of years.

Will, congrats on the new ride. I'm sure it will continue to grow on you.
I've recently picked up a very low mileage '08 Cherry color, but it has been VERY easy to adapt to this much larger bike. Still have my -08 KLR, and will likely keep it as well.Point is the change from it to the VV has been very easy, and confidence inspriing. I've practiced a bit on low speed turning around etc in a parking lot, and after the first few times even that becomes second nature.
ENJOY. I was looking new, and would have gone the red & black. SHARP

Hey Will, welcome to the club.

I also moved from a Rocket (Touring) to the Vision. I only missed the torque for the first couple of hundred miles. I'm still amazed at how much better the Vision handles. It sure is the total package. The red looks good. Unfortunately they aren't bringing it out here to Oz :(

You don't mention the stage 1 kit. If you don't have it, it's well worthwhile considering. It works an absolute treat. Gives you a little more exhaust note and the performance improvement is verrrrry noticeable.:D:D

The lowers have also been a good investment for me. They help with cooling in summer and heating in winter.

I have the Yamaha Venture but we have decided the vision is the next bike! I have been talking with people who have them and around Indianapolis I don't see alot of them but from what I heard nobody will switch once they get one! I like my venture but she's very top heavy 2 up and she's dated but very reliable. I haven't got to ride a vision yet and kinda afraid to till I'm ready to trade. I get alot of info on this site thanks everyone! Ride safe

That's funny. Been doing it too. Had mine a week now. Love it.

And +1 on that Klunk....crazy. At neutral back to first, wow, there's no denying that klunk. Still adjusting to that one.

I have the Yamaha Venture
If it's financially feasible Waterbug, bite that bullet!

I traded my 06 Tour Deluxe. Thought it was one of the best touring bikes going................until I rode these. Now my Victory dealer has a Yamaha to dispose of while I have a Vision. The handling difference and balance is night and day.

I plan on getting one but its just not in the cards at this time but it is in the future. If I could find a nice used one and can make a nice trade Im on it.
