I have a 2013 cross country with a power commander 5 victory performance air filter and big honkers it turns over and its getting gas. I took the spark plugs out and they are getting spark but it just wont start im lost dont know if the power commander is bad or what

Did this just start to happen?? Or right after you added or changed something?

fuel pump failure? (recall) not enough fuel?

Mine did something similar at Mt Rushmore. 5 min later (and ever since) it was ok.

It was not affected by the recall. It has 3/4 of a tank of gas. Its getting gas when i pull the plugs they are wet from the gas

I honestly don't have a clue.
Here are some thoughts if no one has anything that works.

I would probably take a look at the battery connections first. Pull the front chin spoiler and sure they were tight. If they were loose I'd fix that and try it again. Without putting the chin spoiler on at that moment.


If that didn't fix it, I would disconnect the battery and reseat all the PCV connectors just for grins. Hook the battery back up and try it again.
My reasoning is two fold. One is that that the PCV adds a second ecu to get it's nickers in a wad. You have one computer over riding another by design. So by powering everything down you let them both reboot from scratch when you power it back up. If they are having some issue with each other they may resolve it when they both reboot from a complete power down. Second, while you are waiting for all the capacitors in the ecm and PCV to bleed down you will be checking to be sure that all the water tight connectors are properly seated and breaking loose any corrosion that may have formed by removing and reinstalling the connectors in the various sensors, injectors etc.

It could work?? If it won't go you are just out your time. Just be careful to not break any of the connectors getting them apart.

I tried disconnecting the power commander and plugging all the stock connectors to see if the power commander was the problem and it still is doing the same thing. I did notice that my battery dies after a few minutes of cranking. Would a bad battery cause it to not start

From what I have been reading; the battery is one of the weakest links on the Victory motorcycle.

I sort of had this problem. Put my battery on a trikle charge for a say and it started right up. Like the previous post said, the Vic batteries suck. So I went and got a much better battery before I got stuck somewhere .

if you have wet plugs your bike might not start. Pick up a couple sets of new ones. Don't pump or twist the throttle to start the EFI will do it for you.

Un hooking battery to reset does nothing

Did you verify you have the correct map installed on the PCV?

Just to be clear:

Your getting gas because your plugs are wet.
Your getting spark because you checked that. You said you saw it sparking? It looked like a good strong spark.


Your battery isn't up to snuff because it only turns over for only a few minutes.

You took off the pcv so that isn't the problem.
You double checked all the connections etc?



Is the gas good? Ethonal gas does go bad eventually.
3 months no worries, 6 months maybe, maybe not.
Is the gas really old? Could it have been old when it went in like out of gas can, and is older now? If any doubt siphon it out and replace it.
If this happened at a filling station maybe you got a load of something other than gas out of the filler nozzle. It happens.
Check and see...

Charge the battery , check to see you have 12.5 volts at the terminals and hook a car battery to it for extra capacity with jumper cables hooked to it with some sort of home made adapter, probably utilizing a terminal end and some short pieces of wire. Don't start the car you just need some capacity for the battery, not extra voltage.
Careful, Don't get the polarity wrong or everything will be toast!

Do you have compression?
Stick your finger in the sparkplug hole and see? Better yet borrow a compression gauge.

If you have compression, spark and fuel, I would think that you aren't getting the signal to fire at the correct moment? But I wouldn't jump to that until I was sure I had everything else.

I'd be downloading the manual for your bike from here and reading the section on the EFI.

It isn't throwing any codes is it?
