As I stated in my introduction post I want to put together a custom bagger that I can "ride" and have been evaluating the Victory Cross Country as the base for that build. I have been lurking on this site to gain as much information as possible and to familiarize myself with the bike and the potential for mods. The main mods I want to make right off the bat are stretched and extended bags (probably complete new rear end), 23" wheel kit, handlebars, aftermarket exhaust, grips, seat, painted inner fairing, and custom paint. I want to be mindful of potential resale value but since I will be making so many modifications I understand that the potential buyer pool down the road will already be limited by my customization. Right now I have it down between an 8ball XC and the XC itself and to finally get to the point..."which one" is what I am having a problem with. As I understand it there are 4 primary differences between the two; XC has cruise, a radio, abs, and is not blacked out with regards to the forks and the cyclinder cover. I have never had abs on a bike so I don't think I will be missing that much and the same goes with cruise. There are plenty of aftermarket cruise solutions for less than the $500 that the cruise costs. As far as the radio, I usually wear earbuds but could easily add on later if desired and the blacked out forks will probably go well with the look that I am going for. There are 2014 8balls in my area for $14,999 and the XCs are $18,999. I really would like to stay new so that I can take advantage of a warranty. I dont want to spend a ton on mods then not be able to ride it. To me, that $4k difference goes a long way with the mods that I want. So, I really wanted to put all of this out there for some opinions or maybe to find out if there is a difference between the two that I am missing. I appreciate any feedback on the topic.
