New member here. I am looking at upgrading my current ride to either a Cross Country Tour or a Harley Ultra Limited. Been doing some research here on the Victory and am impressed with what i have read. I am thinking the Victory is going to be the best bang for the buck. If anyone knows of any good Victory dealers in California please let me know as i dont have any dealers within 1.5hrs of my location in Morro Bay which is the only downfall to the Victory. Harley dealers are every where it seems.

I too was originally concerned about the scarcity of Vic dealers. You will only need one for the purchase, maintenance is so simple, you'll want to do it yourself. These Vics have it all over a Harley; you name it, Vic tops it. There's a reason there are so many H-D dealers...have you viewed Victory vs Harley on YouTube? View it and you'll never think of buying a Harley again, unless you cave into peer pressure.
Don't know how long you've been lurking here, but do your research and you'll see that most of us are please with some pretty basic mods. No need for going big on mods when your Vic already handles excellently and produces gobs of power. Do keep in mind that the break-in period is long, about 3K miles or more. Now that you know, give it time before you post about power and noise. Good luck. Where in CA? Complete your profile, please.

I do all my own maintenance on my vehicles. I have watched the videos and am very impressed with the Victory. It took a minute for the style of the cross country tour to grow on me but really like it now. I really like the features of the vision but in my eyes that is one ugly bike. The 2014 Harley Rushmore Ultra Limited is a really nice bike but very expensive. The CCT has pretty much everything i need in a bike and is thousands cheaper than the Harley. I plan on doing some mild upgrades such as exhaust, fuel controller, dyno tune and intake along with the timing advance from Lloydz and possibly cams. I need to start shopping dealers and see if i can find one that is willing to deal a bit and not charge full MSRP plush freight plus dealer set up fees.

I do believe there are some incentives still hanging around. Sounds like you've been doing some good research Larry. You might want to wait with the fuel controller until after you have installed the timing wheel,that thing really awakens the 106 nicely for less than 1/2 the price of a controller.

I have owned two Harley bikes

1) 2007 FXDSE (Screamin Eagle Dyna), my HighBall out of the box feels stronger than the Dyna after $6000 worth of upgrades and dyno tunes.

2) 2011 FLTRX (Road Glide Custom) my high ball is without any doubt my comfortable than the roadie was with the stock seat and with the mustang seat with drivers backrest.

So in a nutshell I spent over 60 grand to find out that my HighBall is the better bike. Wish I could do it al over agian BUT knowing what I know now

Thanks for all the great advice. After reading on here, the timing wheel is going to be the first upgrade.

Next week or two I am gonna set up test rides for the CCT and 14 harley ultra limited and see which one I like the best.

Welcome to the show...

I'm a former HD owner as well. And mechanically, my vic tops all the HD's I've owned in every way. Only thing HD can top is sound and finish... but if I suddenly become stupid and want to chrome out my bike with every nut and bolt I can do that for cheaper than making the HD out perform the Vic.

I totally agree. I really like the design of the victory engine with the 4 valve per cyl, overhead cams, gear drive primary, simple oil change, stator location, starter, etc.

I do wish Victory would have cleaned up the controls a bit especially for the cruise control and audio controls and incorporated them like Harley and Triumph Trophy. Thats just me being nit picky tho. The main thing is that it is reliable with decent power and handling while being comfortable. I commute a lot to work on my bike which is 165 miles round trip so reliability and comfort is a must on my next bike.

Welcome from the high desert of So-Cal, Larry. I commute 115-120 miles round trip every day- as long as it's dry and above 32f. My kingpin is very comfortable for the commute. A cross bike could only up the comfort factor. You'll be very happy commuting on it.
