Got back in my hometown from Daytona and my bike went blank. I lost everything. No lights nothing. I checked the fuses and found the ignition/gauges fuse blown. I replaced it with the spare and I had got all the electrical back and was able to start the bike. But as soon as I put it in gear it blew the fuse again. Replaced with another one and this time just after starting, without putting it in gear, it blow again. Had to trailer the bike home and checked all the battery connections and they were tight. just really wondering were I should be checking. I checked the forum and found a lot of light issues but nothing I read with this issue. I have a 2007 vegas 8 ball. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. All light are working properly, I have all my turn signals and break light, and head light dim and bright.

got to retrace your steps, was the seat off, side cover, tank off, has to be a wire touching ground shorting out some where, can take a while to rub through the cover on the wire. Maybe a wire harness plug is not pushed all the way together and is jumping spark. I do electrical all the time and it will drive you nuts till you find it. A wire could be welded to the frame, them are hard to find. You have to physically move every wire to find it.

Ok, today I was able to tear into it deeper. I had tank side shields S&S air intake off and seat too. I found a wire that goes to one of the spark plug solenoids that had a bear spot in it exposing the wire. Looks like it had been rubbing on the throttle cable mount. This was causing a shot grounding the wire and blowing the fuse. I had to repair and reroute the wire so to not wear on that soot again. I also noticed that the rubber grommet to the head light was pushed in some and was starting to tear through the installation of the wire harness. I repaired it as well and put a spot of glue there so the grommet would not do that again. Also at the throttle mount I glued a pice of car door trim to the edge so it don't eat through the gas supply line to the injectors from the tank. That would be bad!
