I'm really liking this Pope!

http://news.yahoo.com/pope-francis-hates-trickle-down-economics-isnt-liberal-064900403.html

"Today everything comes under the laws of competition and the survival of the fittest, where the powerful feed upon the powerless.... Human beings are themselves considered consumer goods to be used and then discarded."

"In this context, some people continue to defend trickle-down theories which assume that economic growth, encouraged by a free market, will inevitably succeed in bringing about greater justice and inclusiveness in the world. This opinion, which has never been confirmed by the facts, expresses a crude and naïve trust in the goodness of those wielding economic power and in the sacralized workings of the prevailing economic system."

"While the earnings of a minority are growing exponentially, so too is the gap separating the majority from the prosperity enjoyed by those happy few. This imbalance is the result of ideologies which defend the absolute autonomy of the marketplace and financial speculation. Consequently, they reject the right of states, charged with vigilance for the common good, to exercise any form of control."

"The thirst for power and possessions knows no limits. In this system, which tends to devour everything which stands in the way of increased profits, whatever is fragile, like the environment, is defenseless before the interests of a deified market, which become the only rule."

"The Pope loves everyone, rich and poor alike, but he is obliged in the name of Christ to remind all that the rich must help, respect, and promote the poor."

But Francis isn't talking only to the super-wealthy. Most Americans probably don't fit into the Argentine pope's definition of the poor. This hits a little close to home:

"Almost without being aware of it, we end up being incapable of feeling compassion at the outcry of the poor, weeping for other people's pain, and feeling a need to help them, as though all this were someone else's responsibility and not our own. The culture of prosperity deadens us; we are thrilled if the market offers us something new to purchase; and in the meantime all those lives stunted for lack of opportunity seem a mere spectacle; they fail to move us." Very socialist of him.... I don't think Jesus expected 'charity' to be demanded at the point of the Roman sword.

Careful now...or St Peter may give you a time out in the boiler room!

Anywayz, it's about time someone led the sheeple out of the darkness of ignorance and hate...even if he do dress funny.

It's a centuries old fashion statement.

Seems to be a kind, caring, logical, loving man. The haters will try to eat him alive and paint him as some type of socialist.

If the funny pope slipper fits...

"Haters" who resist the notion of a Robin Hood economic system... I'd say the Pope should walk the walk, sell some of his gold and jewels and feed more poor people.

Charity is voluntary, the forced 'charity' of the socialist redistributionist is thievery.

P.S. He believes in God, lets not give him too much credit for being logical.

Not sure what atheism has to do with unhappiness. That's like making the assertion that people who don't believe in the Easter bunny are manic depressives. Some people who don't believe in the Easter bunny are certainly manic depressives, but it's not a group that's at any statistically greater risk for the illness than any other portion of the population.

I think his unhappiness stems much more from his blind obedience to all the right wing rhetoric. Those people don't seem to be able to express a pleasant thought about life without ruining it whining about Obama.

You do dig way deep into your thoughts don't you and they're all over the place, also congrats for putting the Easter Bunny and Obama into the same post that was original and never seen before.

I was just throwing it out there. Some have a tough time with life and when you add no beliefs for some, for some, not all it is tougher to deal with life. My mother is terminally ill as I write this yet her beliefs have given her happiness and peace. Works for some not all.

Easter Bunny is not real????

Christianity:

The belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie
can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
Makes perfect sense to me...

Religion is a very complex subject because it's so different to each individual compared to politics which usually falls into fairly neat groups. Usually but not always. Everyone has faith in something they can neither see nor prove.

I don't know anyone who has blind obedience to anything or anyone on the right but there are sure a lot who have it on the left. I've never seen such swooning over such a loser POTUS in my life. It's like he could even literally slap his followers on the face and they would say they were sorry for making him do that.

See how I did that SB? I made an excellent and pertinent point about obungles and proved you right about us righties bitching about the bone head every chance we get. I personally never tire of proving how screwed up he is. :D

Happy Thanksgiving all! I hope today finds everyone well and giving thanks for all we have like friends, family, and Victory's. :)

Sez the lifelong gov't employee drawing an early taxpayer funded retirement...
You expect people who entered into a system that was devised before them to just give the gov't back such earned benefits? Silly aren't you.

People plan their lives/retirements based on such promises/contracts and earned benefits... changes to such plans have to effect those entering now. You know that, but you like to make ridiculous points.

I'm very sorry for your loss Dave. May she rest in peace and be with you forever in your heart.

:(

Thanksgiving will always have an added meaning for you even though it falls on a different day every 3 out of 4 years.
