As the old timer here, I have to agree with our worldly friend Andre. I witnessed WWII from afar, but was well aware of what we were fighting; National Socialism and Imperialism. Now I see many in the US supporting National Socialism, a system that murdered upwards of 17 million civilians and hundreds of thousands of allied troops.
I live in a city, county and state run by liberals who talk about freedom out of one side of their mouth while robbing us of them from the other side. They have even gone to the extent of criminalizing everyday words and call masculinity "toxic." They want anything banned that don't like, such as guns.
No, my American friends, we are no longer the free society that I once knew. We are highly regulated (even limited to how much water our toilets can use) and have to pay taxes and fees on what used to be free. You may remember a time when most pickups sported a gun rack at the rear window and sometimes carried a rifle or two. Try that today. A kid can't even point a finger gun in school without getting suspended. We now live in a society that is controlled by those who are too easily offended by too much and indoctrinated by the media and our education systems.
Sadly, Andre is right.

I don't really know enough about Australia's politics and laws to comment on them. I think they have a parliamentary government like Great Britain. I know our gun laws are much more liberal than theirs and I like their immigration policies and laws. I have worked with their Army and they are well trained and professional. I have known several and worked for a engineer that is Australian and liked him well. When he retired he went back to Sidney, Australia. His wife divorced him, she is American and he has 2 kids with her. I did have 2 Australian women that told me Texas men where extremely polite and well mannered compared to Australian men. I don't know if that's true or not and they don't know some of the American men I know. I have never met an Australian person I didn't like professionally or leisurely. They do have extremely beautiful sexy women!

It's just the statement a few posts above to even think that if you cannot have a gun or exhaust that your country is more free then another.... And the USA is far less free than many more countries... I see this attitude all the time on the drilling jackups, and it always make me laugh ....

The polite part is an interesting point,

Klumpster, try this bloke on the Gold Coast, he's advertised three sets of pipes, one set of which he refers to as '1 Victory motors set'. Can't hurt to give him a call:

https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ashmore/motorcycle-scooter-parts/harley-davidson-twin-mufflers/1236432859

Alternatively, there are several sets on ebay that are in the USA. Postage is stupidly expensive but what I normally do is get onto the seller and see if they can get a price from USPS to sent them Priority Mail International. It usually works out heaps cheaper than the ebay shipping calculator that sellers use.

Also for the benefit of our US friends following this thread, the OP's bike won't be seized if he doesn't get some suitable pipes. It will be put off the road though until he can present it with proper mufflers.

Cheers,

Russ.

We have the same situation in Taiwan. All big bikes have an annual inspection once they are over 5 years old, and every 6 months once they are over 10 years, and everything has to be stock. I know guys who fitted non-standard mufflers when the bikes didn’t need the inspection, then sold them, and downstream there can be a problem. I have Akrapovic slip-ons for my High-Ball, which are not loud, but still put the original mufflers back for the inspection. I know one guy who welded the original factory plate on his non-standard mufflers and he gets away with it! And I see Harleys with loudish pipes.....I don’t know how they get away with it, maybe they “know someone” (!) but as a foreigner living in someone else’s country I try not to get involved with such things.

There are a few states that get pretty hard on load pipes in the U.S.A. and some you have to have emission test at the yearly safety inspection. Some states don't have safety inspections but do have emission inspections. Texas has yearly safety inspections and some large cities have emission inspections. Where I live has no emission inspections and in the 60's and 70's they gave out a lot of tickets for loud pipes on bikes and cars. But now they don't for some reason. I haven't heard of anyone getting loud pipe tickets in 30 years.

Hey all,

I'm new here and really hoping someone can help. A cop here in Sydney took offence to my RPW Big Slash the other day and reported me to the EPA (environmental protection agency). I've now received a summons to present bike for inspection no later than end of this month or receive a defect notice and de-registration of the bike, basically on the scrap heap. I'm reliably told that the only was to pass their damn test is to re-fit the factory pipes. Since Victory closed in Sydney, the new Indian dealership has disposed of all Victory stock, talk about abandoned! Called them and they didn't even try and sound like they cared. So to my question, does anyone out there have a set of factory pipes (to fit a 2014 Hammer, gathering dust somewhere) Am of course happy to pay for them, this forum is just about my last chance to continue riding this bike.

Best regards,

Steve K
