Wow that is steep, wonder if you can convert the quick disconnect to bolted on?
To get into the real nuts and bolts about the Indian bikes I would do a google search for Indian Motorcycle Forums to get to an Indian specific forum. I think the Indian section here is more directed toward general Indian MC stuff. It is a good question though and I do hope they have thought about them being secured for both their value and so they don't come off on the road like some of the Vic saddlebags have.

Brukus has some great solutions for the Vic bags.

I googled just that no luck, you know of an active indian forum? The section on *** is a bit more active.
Click on the link I provided in my last post. There are two of them that show up.

The price paid for quick disconnects and quick opening buckles is the risk to the inherent security of the bags... on my last bags I put a dowel pin with a hole in each end through the leather with a cotter pin on the inside and a lock on the outside. Not sure that I want to put a hole through these bags yet or not.

As far as grabbing the bag without opening it and ripping it off the bike... I don't see that happening... the clamps inside are substantial and there is an additional locking pin inside.

The windshield on my bike came as a locking type...

The only mod that I have made so far is a Guard Dog Alarm with a remote... works well even if someone just touches the bags. The alarm goes off on the bike and in my pocket too.

I reckon I will have to wait and see what the locking pin is about. A guy walking off the street knows as much about these bikes as my salesman does. I see no mention of locking windshield anywhere. Should be standard. I will check into Guard Dog. Guard Dog brings up a lot of responses. Got a link?

Thx

You can get these so that a thief would have to damage the bag to get to the internals to take it off.

http://www.saddlebaglidlocks.com/

a) What use are they as they only fit on Limited and Chief and the Chief has a non-matching seat. IOW, there ain't much of a black market. Not sure there ever will be as most folks prefer the dashboard bikes.

b) Even a thief is probably smart enough to know that damaging the bags would not be in his best interest as a future seller.

As to the windshield, yeah, I suppose loosening 4 bolts would take tens of seconds more than popping a quick release, if said crook knows where the quick release is and how to use it.

I'm thinking an insurance policy is probably your best bet for riding a machine the crooks find purdy.

The Guard Dog I looked at is a $400 investment to start out. The lid lock is a bit less expensive. I have it bookmarked.

Thx

Everybody loves the leather. At a replacement cost of $$2245 I am concerned about them getting stolen. They are not lockable. Is there some way to secure them? Plus the windshield.

Tim,

Looking at the Classic ( I know you ordered Vintage ) on the "customize" option, a "saddlebag" without fringe BTW, is shown for $450. I'm assuming that is QTY 1?

Anyway, bags and windshield shouldn't cost that to replace if you had to. The key is don't park it in the "hood" I guess.

I think the prices are all fouled up on both Indian and Vic websites. I just bought a set of floorboards for the wife. They are listed on the website as $219, but there isn't a soul on the planet selling them for that. I also noticed a few other crazy prices after they put up the 2014 stuff.
