Hey all,

Starting to think about mods for my ride and need some input on intakes. In looking at Lloydz, there are three choices:

S&S
Torque Tubes
Lloydz airbox

So far, it seems the torque tubes are touted to be the best. But that's a Lloydz product from Lloydz, so I expect them to be a bit bias. Anyone have any recommendations, thoughts, and/or experience with these three? Would like to know which one would perform better an why.

I have searched but haven't found anything that compares these three.

Once this is solidified, I will have exhaust, and fuel controller questions. Just moving in order down the line.

i have the tubes and a pc-v.i am very happy with the results.it runs great on the bottom end but really shines on the top end.i would not have gotten them if i was not planning on doing a big bore kit.the pc-v is simple to use.if you are not mechanically inclined it might take a bit to install but it is the one i would buy.

Good to know. I do plan on going with the big bore kit eventually, so I guess I should have mentioned that. As far as a fuel controller, its between the pc-v or the vfc.

What do you use the bike for? How much performance do you really need/want?

The shortcut: S&S Airbox & Thor pipe. The S&S box comes with a download. Huge increase in HP and torque, easy-peasy. Lloydz airbox is essentially the same, but no download.

The Torque Tubes are not for everyone. They are a borderline race piece. You can smell the crankcase vapors at stoplights. However, it is very effective. At peak I only gained 2HP and 8 ft/lbs over the S&S box. But at 3400 RPM I gained 11 HP and 17 ft-lbs. It lives up to its name. It will require the Power Commander to tune it right.

It's good to see someone doing research. You cannot have too much information.

Ahhhh yes, more info I should have divulged. Right now it's my daily. My goal in the long long run would be to maximize the motor's potential. So ultimately I want max power and torque. Even though I wouldn't be doing something like Lloydz clutch mod or the bore kit yet, I want to look at an intake that can accommodate such mods down the road. Your comments on the tubes leads me to believe that's the way to go if I plan making this machine run like a raped ape. They also (your comments) are leaning me towards the pc-v versus the vfc controller.

Not to get too off subject, but why do you recommend the Thor tubes??

Thanks for your comments Half. Have to do research in this area man. Can't just go willy nilly bolting **** on. Do it right or don't do it all. I can't not do it, so....

Well... because I WISH I had bought it the first time. After 4, that's right 4 different exhaust systems on this bike... and having a friend with the identical bike with yet a 5th system... and after much research... it makes the best overall torque and horsepower of anything I've been able to find. It also fits nice and tight to the bike, looks good, sounds good, it's really light weight, and it's less expensive too.

Contact Jim at www.metricthunder.com and you'll get a killer deal. Tell him you were refered to him by HC. He was $127 cheaper than anyplace else and free UPS ground shipping.

It also fits nice and tight to the bike, looks good, sounds good, it's really light weight, and it's less expensive too.
+1 for the RPW Thor... great "thump thump thump" exhaust note, clean look, and excellent fit and finish.

This could all be a moot point. I had the pleasure of meeting Trask yesterday and had a good talk about upgrayedds. So I might be going the Turbo route. Still need a fc, and would still do the bore kit from Lloydz. In doing this it looks like I could get +/- 160 HP at around 140 or more torque. Now THAT looks like maximized power to me. Not to mention his shop is down the street from my house. A much added bonus as the Vic shops around here seem to be less than adequate at this point. Ya its a pretty penny, but I'm the type of person that does it right or doesn't do it at all. Hence the Vic purchase. Also since I'm looking at doing this down the road, gives me more of an idea of how much money I need to raise.

I've searched here for info and thoughts on turbos, but there's nothing recent and I have some specific questions that those threads don't answer. So I'll probably start a new thread about that here shortly.

Thanks for your input Half. If you don't mind, I might PM you to pick your brain a bit.

The turbo is less cost than a motor build because it comes with pipes, airbox, and FI controller, but if you do both, that's gonna get costly.

If I may, one more thing... We think we want that 135 HP bike until we actually have it. Where do you plan to let those horses run? When your daily driver is that quick/fast riding it becomes an excercize in self control. A couple of seconds on the gas is all you ever get because the bike will cover ground like crazy. My advice is to really think about how much of that you wanna deal with on your daily driver and how badly do you really want/need it. I went all freakin' YEEE HAAAA on mine... but truth be known... the 104" w/S&S airbox, a Thor, and PC-III (my friend's bike) is a better daily driver and will get way down in the 11s at the race track while getting 45 mpg and leaving some money in the bank account.

Choose wisely.

half_crazy, that is probably the best advice I have seen on any of the many forums I belong to.

Once you have your Victory properly tuned at a modest price (airbox, pipes and tuner) you'll be leaving the competition (HD) in the dust and scratching their heads, so why go crazy???
Unless of course you take your bike to the track! LOL cheers

A friend of mine has the aerocharger kit on his 08 Vegas and it is a great bolt on power adder for a daily driver that can hang with the big dogs when you need it to. The packaging is clean and the variable vane turbo lights really quick. But like the other guys have said, figure out what your expectations and budget are and go from there.

Those are all good points guys, and valid. I think a turbo would really only benefit at the track, as opposed to weekends rides and the daily commute. Now when/if I get another cruiser, then I'll deck this one out. But for now the standard air, pipes, tuner will do fine. I'm not really concerned about hanging with the big dogs or leaving the competition in the dust. Unless of course this turns into a track bike. I actually ride by myself and nobody ever approaches me in any way shape or form to step up to the plate. So racing doesn't really come into play. So why should a turbo at 5k????

I've figured with the modest upgrayedds it would run around $2500 including shipping and dyno time. The turbo alone is 5k and that's no dyno time or fc. So I'm pretty sure I could find better uses for the extra 2500+ in cash. Maybe a cool little project bike? Hmmmm the mind does wonder.

I took a look at the Thor tubes. I like them, but no black??? What's up with that? Anyway, exhaust is for another thread.

Just as an update: The Thor pipes ARE available in black. Just not listed so on Lloydz site. I went straight to RPW and it's listed there. So Half...I will contact Jim at MT to find out the skinny and get those ordered pronto, along with my tubes and pcv.
