Hi Guys ...and girls if there are any in here!
Iam coming to your lovely shores to ride for about 1 month in august ( 5th - 29th) and want to get some insurance for the bike , as i understand you have to have a certain amount? would like some storage ? not on the road insurance from now untill then as well if ti is possible.
The Bike's value is around $11000 US
Can anybody tell me who is good / the best eg good coverage ( they pay up if something does happen! ) at a reasonable price?

Cheers Mark

My experience and recent look into insurance has shown that Progressive insurance is far and away the least expensive.

This is a copy and paste from the California Department of Motor Vehicles web site,

Mandatory requirements
Financial responsibility is required on any vehicle operated or parked on California roadways.

You must carry evidence of financial responsibility in your vehicle at all times and must be provided as specified below:

When requested by law enforcement.
When renewing vehicle registration.
When the vehicle is involved in a traffic collision.
Providing evidence of financial responsibility
In some cases, you may also be requested to submit additional insurance information to DMV by providing:

A document or identification card from your insurance company.

Minimum liability insurance requirements for private passenger vehicles
(California Insurance Code §11580.1b)
$15,000 for injury/death to one person
$30,000 for injury/death to more than one person
$5,000 for damage to property
Liability insurance compensates a person other than the policy holder for personal injury or property damage. Comprehensive or collision insurance does not meet vehicle financial responsibility requirements.

I think its expensive for you because you are not licensed in California. Also are you doing a 1 month plan or just looking for insurance period? I would not put a limit on the time frame for insurance. You can cancel it when you leave the states.

Good thought!...So if i had an address out side of CA say in Utah or Arizona it could be cheaper? I will ask them to quote for a year and see what happens.

Hey mate sounds good !! Plan is to ride from La to Sturgis, Due to time frame (lack of time really !) i will not be stopping long in LA....Been told and looking at it the coast road to San fran looks nice?...but any advice would be great! Especially which places to AVOID AT ALL COSTS! We or I will fly in 5th August...pick up the Jack from storage , service , plugs was going to say polish but the guys who are storing it are going to "detail" it and put it on display in there show room...With a sign that says " no tyre kickers! and nothing over 50kilos on the seat " LOL..I digress...then head out . Will be interesting as its been 10 years since i last rode on the wrong side of the road...I know what you are going to say its the RIGHT side! Iam spending a month in Sweden with my wife and kids ( Visting her Family ) so hopefully will drive / ride a bit there and get used to it again.
I will give your broker a ring and see what he can do.
Cheers mark
