I did a search on here and saw someone else had a similar issue I am having unfortunately, I really didn't understand what they were saying on how to fix it.

The problem I am having is this.
I put my bike on the charger in April so that I could bring it out when the weather here was better. Winter just didn't want to give up hahaha. Could not get the bike to turn over. I have a relatively new battery. Maybe 1-2 yrs old. My brother and son pushed the bike out of the shed for me and we were able to jump start the bike. The chk engine keep flashing in between the alt flashing. I replaced the voltage regulator because the alt was reading at 11. Bought a new battery, and the bike started right up. It doesn't sound odd. But the chk engine keeps flashing. I think I need to reset it but I am not understanding how to do that.

I am determined to learn how to fix my bike. Unfortunately I am not a mechanic. I do know some stuff, but am somewhat limited on my knowledge. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time.

Bike is a '99 V92C :)

When the check engine light is on there are 4 possible problems-Sensors, Injectors, ECM, or a wiring problem. If the check engine light is on there's an active fault. Once corrected the the check engine light will go out but the fault will be logged into the ECM memory. You need a diagnostic lamp to access and clear active & logged fail code in the ECM. That said I've seen the chk eng come on after washing my 99 before I got all the connections sealed in dielectric grease. These bikes are very voltage sensitive and it can take a while to get the bugs out-you just have to be very methodical and work your way through starting with the simple stuff. Check your ground strap by the left passenger peg & make sure its tight-I've seen this cause issues, make sure the battery is strong and connections are tight. Get a service manual and get to know your machine-the V92C's are worth the effort- good luck-Brian

Is that the wire from the voltage regulator that is right by the frame? I have had the bike for about 6 years. I just put in a new battery. When we had jumped the bike with the old battery both the chk engine and alt were flashing. When I replaced the regulator the alt stopped flashing. My brother had taken out the plug (in front) he had problems getting it back in. Could that be an issue?

I didn't have any issues when I parked it last fall. It ran great last summer.
