Into year four of ownership, almost 43K miles and at least a few posts about it, performance cams are finally going to be a reality. thumb up
I've got to pull in @broggyr @LILMAGS500 and @roboots21 to this. Mags, Broggy and I have been going back and forth on cams for a long time....whether or not adding cams was worth the cost or if extra performance was even a safe thing to do(especially for me...). We always thought it was going to be a "drop off at Lloydz" job, which for us would be cams, install and tune at ~$1300. Enter roboots, who was nice enough to offer help and tools for a self installation, even maps for the tune. Also, he gave me much of his time answering questions and helping me decide what to get. This brought the cost to a point I could afford now. I was still iffy about the installation and holding back. Then I came across the vid. below, once I saw for myself what the job actually entails I knew it was something I could handle. I passed the vid on to broggy, who must have thought the same thing, because next thing I know he's like a wild man over cams(I'm a bad influence ;) ) and ended up purchasing a set of S&S Stage2 cams he got a killer deal on(we won't talk anymore about this.... ). Hell, now my hand was kind of forced, after much research I found the right deal on Lloydz HOH-VM1-DR cams.
Broggy and I are having a cam party in his garage as soon as we have our parts and can work the time out. Mags is waiting in the wings to see how this goes.

Huge thanks to Jim Langton for making this vid

I haven't gotten a confirmation on my cams order, but I haven't gotten a denial either. Order was placed on July 3, so maybe a week from then hopefully.

You could ever-so-meekly and gently ask on the status of your order.

I have gotten a confirmation for my last order, but I don't recall getting a confirmation for every order. I have yet to be disappointed...

I'm following this, since it is one of my future planned upgrades. Best of luck, gentlemen.

Ha!....like you two already don't know what we are going to have to say.... :wink
I don't know why but our 100/106's respond to performance better than any other big V-twin....I mean crap, all I've basically done is add a hi-flow air filter and a factory "stage 1" exhaust(the ATS and 1/4 turn ring do nothing for the numbers, just the feel). Letting a non-Victory specialist dyno tune the bike, he got me 92hp / 112tq and the bike goes damn good. With the cams, a Lloydz map and eventually a Lloydz dyno tune this thing will be at a whole new level of performance.

I'm well ......

Oh yeah, this should be a good thread.....Go Guys!!
It would be better with RED flames to accentuate the cams :laugh

I couldn't help but think, just put it in gear and turn the rear wheel. That's about the easiest way to turn the motor over. No welding, or destruction of OE timing wheel required.:wink

Cams are on my to do list. Just not sure if it will happen before or during winter. Biggest question is, which ones to choose? :grin

I have the Lloyds DR cams in my CCT. No complaints what so ever, I'm about 113/113. But I thought I read where people had great (perhaps better) results from the Lloyds LSC cams.

From what I read, the S&S may be closely related to the LSC. For the price I paid, I'm not going to argue much.

After spending lots of time picking roboots21's brain, reading up and looking at dyno charts I decided to go with the VM1-DR over the LSC or S&S cams. All give a pretty good power increase across the rpm range, but what I really want out of my cams is more passing punch. The DR's peak power toward the higher rpms over the other cams, this will get me the power feel I want.
I probably won't have a dyno tuning done(definitely, by Lloydz this time) until next year, so I won't know my #'s until then.....I'll have to go by the "butt dyno"

As far as turning the engine over goes....All I plan on doing is putting a socket on the timing gear nut....That sucker is tight in there and was easily able to crank the engine with the spark plugs in. Safely wedging that gear to stop the engine from tuning was the major pain in the ass I had to deal with when installing the Lloydz ATS.
I don't see any reason why I need special tools or would have to go to any extraordinary means.

That's what I did .. socket to turn it over .. Allen key stuck in the timing hole that aligns at tdc to stop it from turning .. easy peasy!

You're making me nervous Peter..... :| Now I remember when I got the XC in May of 2014, I told my wife; Victorys aren't like Harleys ...I won't need to "do anything to this bike" ....I lasted a couple of months, before I drilled the pipes, added the Vic stage 1 AF and Cobra Fi2000...... Then over the first winter bought the Lloydz ATS, throttle ring, Miller muffles and a PC-V.... Then had two seasons of dealing with "heat & buffeting" issues which basically had me end up selling and re-buying all that stuff....Finally no more heat & buffeting issues and within weeks ..holy ****!! I bought cams. Need I mention the LEDs, seats, handlebars and do-dads I've put into this bike.

Yep Peter, normally I'd say bullshit, "this bike is done"...but looking back at my own track record.....I'm very, very nervous now. :eek
