Guys,

Since I put a couple of thousand miles on a Victory Flip Windshield and just changed to the Klockworks winshield (my Flip got the crack like everyone else's did) I thought I'd give my experiences comparing the two windshields. Let me premise this by saying I don't have any lowers on my bike so this is a direct comparison of just the windshields.

First of all, the description for the Klockworks windshield on the Victory website states that the Klockworks is in between the Flip and the Tall windshield as far as height is concerned. This could not be farther from the truth. The Klockworks and the Flip are the exact same height from the cutout to the top of the shield. But the Klockworks angles back at a much steeper angle whereas the Flip angles up alot more. The result is that when sitting on the bike the Klockworks is a much shorter windshield but closer to the rider than the flip. I'm 6' 5" and I look way over the top of the Klockworks.

As far as looks goes, the Klockworks wins hands down. I actually think the Klockworks looks better than the factory small windshield. To me it is the only aftermarket windshield that doesn't detract from the sleek lines of the fairing. I thought the Flip windshield detracted from the looks of the bike a little bit because it angles up so steeply whereas the Klockworks follows the lines of the fairing.

When comparing performance I was very surprized by the results. When I installed the windshield I thought I would be dissapointed because the Klockworks windshield is so short. But I was very pleasently surprized. While the windshield is much shorter it creates significantly less turbulence than the flip windshield does. Like I said, my head way above the windshield and I definitely get some air. But it is clean air, much better than the flip windshield. I'm not the type of person who minds getting some wind in my face so I love the Klockworks windshield.

If you're the type of person who wants full lowers and a nice clean pocket of air you're probably only going to be happy with a windshield that you look through. But I can't imagine anyone under 6' 1" not loving this windshield. The Klockworks is a small, great looking windshield that performs much bigger than it actually is. I can't see any reason why someone would ever buy the Victory Flip now that the Klockworks is available. The Klockworks beats the Flip in every aspect and is not going to crack like the Flip will. I love my Klockworks and I'm keeping it!

+1...from a guy shorter than 6'5"

I agree with your review...fits the lines of the bike and provides good clean air! Wait till you ride with some lowers...it gets even better! thumb up

I'd have to agree with the Klockwerks shield. I went from the stock shield to the kw though. At 80+ indicated my half helmet no longer wobbles or pulls at my head.

Lowers are next. Now just which ones???

Which Klockwerks shield are you talking about? Is it the one they call flare? Just got my xc and I know I want another shield. Maybe a part number or site where I can purchase. Thanks.

Yes I ordered the Flare windshield.

I'll extend a kudos to Kate at HondaEastToledo. I sent her an email about RPW pipes, a high performance air filter and the windshield. She made sure everything was in stock and I recieved my goods two days later after payment.

pics of the klockwerks flare?

Anyone got any decent pics of the klockwerks flare on their XC? From what I hear, this is the best looking windshield, but even the advertising shots are not the actual product. hmmmm

BBob, what seems to be the problem with the Klockwerks Flare? I was just about to order one for my new XC. Seems like many like it. I don't want to spend that kind of money if it's not worth it. Thanks. Joe.

So far it seems at least 4 people have gotten cracks in the upper left mounting bolt area. See this thread:

It looks like this could be a trend.

Just got some info on another forum.

Apparently the rubber washer is supposed to be on the inside against the mount and not on the bolt. Kinda counter intuitive to me but that's what KW is saying. They are also saying they will replace the shields. All the shields that have cracked, they say, have the rubber washer on the bolt.
