I am heading late this winter up to have some mods on my 06 Hammer by Rylan at the VIC shop. While I am still debating whether to have cams installed, I am clearly going to have him place a better breather in than my K&M and I am going to have Rylan re install my PC III back in the bike (local dealer pulled it out and installed a stage one flash). I have RPW slashes on the bike. I would like to get a bit more HP out of the bike and more throttle response and yes I have purchased but yet to install my quarter turn throttle ring. Though a cold starter, after a couple of minutes, the bike runs very smoothly, no back fire and never a throttle blip problem, though the idle is now getting a bit low at cold conditions and will probably have Rylan clean the throttle bodies. MY QUESTIONS: 1) Does the difference in cost from an air box to torque tubes worth it? 2) Will as suggested by the name, torque tubes provide more torque relatively than an airbox? 3) Can I expect any problems with the use of torque tubes that I would not have with an air box such as clogging or need to clean more frequently? 4) Can I actually screw up a currently smooth running bike by making these changes as well as possibly adding CAMS? Thanks and any other input or suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Before anyone asks what I am looking for by upgrading, the answer is beyond the continued reliability this bike has provided, I would like more torque and quick pick up speed at the lower end.

I had the S & S , very affordable and sucked air like a vacuum cleaner .....

There are people here that removed the S&S for torque tubes with not a lot of added benefit for the $$ they said it leveled out the torque more than increased it.

Motorbikerx I'm talking about you.

Yeah mate, past 4200 the Torque Tubes levelled out to same as a decent intake, I presume with cams both intakes would allow a fairly equal rise in both torque and HP.
Basically an SS or LLOYDS airbox/filter gives a BIG lift over stock.
The difference of later substituting Torque tubes as I did well frankly I picked up a few ft lb and a few horse over a good intake but dollarwise, youd be better sticking with lloydz airbox and shelling out the difference for a PCV and a proper Dynotune, then its set and forget. And youre gleaning as much as possible in both torque HP and rideability as possible.
And if you cam it up as well.....lookout! Hehehe!
Sell yr PC3 to someone with a lesser state of tune.
My advice do it once and do it right.
Torquetubes are marketed as a Show and Go item,
Compared with stock they look sound and perform **** hot!
Thats OZ for fantastic.
Theyre very user friendly for cleaning and re oiling as it you dont need to remove yr tank and risk yr fuel nipple breaking.
Ive had my tank on and off successfully a few times and as long as yr not a klutz nothing breaks.
Ive no regrets with the TTI and at the time I could afford it
But bang for buck its hard to beat Lloyds or S&S
Both are servicable without having to unbolt em from the thrittle body as I would have had to do with my cheaper Ness Ram unit.

My bike is an 06 so based on some of the posts I have seen about the timing ring for the older motors I am not sure if I want to have Rylan do that but possibly along with the CAMS. If I do it all, I suppose I am done at that point and just should be happy and ride. I am curious why you think I should dump the PCIII and go with a PCV? What will the PCV do that the PCIII won't after Rylan tunes and dynos my bike? Thanks again.cheers

Dunno mate, just figure the 5 would be better than the 3 thats all

I'd be the first to admit when I dont know something.
I could have made up some bull about this and that and the other.....5 is bigger than 3.....and bigger is better? ...

Garandiver....so is yours a 100 cuber?

Ill be interested in seeing yr dyno sheet after your mods and particulat the cams.
I imagine cams may not give as much of a boost as they do when youve got more cubes.
Do you know anyone whos done everything to a 100 cuber before?

As far as cubes go bigger is better

The old TTI vs Lloydz or S&S intake. This has been one of the biggest debates on the forum out think. I've been back and forth myself. For me I think I'll have to do the TTI bc I feel l like I'll be selling the rest of my planned mods short without it.

Yeah the way the cams ramp up both the torque and horsepower I'd bet they will carry the TTI gain all the way thru to redline.
And those two pods sticking out eager to gulp up as much air as they can get, plus the induction noise!
After changing my fuel filter I cleaned and reoiled my filters as. they had 6000 mile on them and when I started the bike I at first thought I mightve had a big vacuum leak somewhere then I realised it was just the healthy sound of the enginr inhaling oxygen.
The Best bike deserves the best bits after all.
Be it induction, exhaust, cams, timing wheel,
Handlebars too.
On my bike from the Freedom pipes to the Torquetube intake and up to the Burleigh Bars, Ive got the very best..
And the best deserves the best

No other changes to the bike, just swapped airboxes and re-tuned it.



Only worth a couple of peak HP but the real story is the marker at 3400 rpm. Gained 11 HP and 17 ft-lbs there.

This is why they are called TORQUE tubes...

Damn!!! Look at the torque climb on that thing, that's rip your arms out of the sockets torque!!

That was the little 104" engine with RPW Slash exhausts... It was monsoon raining that day too.
And cams?..... of course mustve had cams to push those numbers?
104 you say?......that a kitted 100?
