Ok, found one I really like, first off, it has 19,000 miles on it, they are asking $8899 at my local dealer. It has windshield, lowers, saddlebags, tach, MP3 player with handlebar mounted speakers and controller, crashbar with leather lowers(not exactly sure what you call them) kuryakyn footpegs on the crash bars and it appears to be in very nice condition. I took it for a test drive, the dealer started it and brought it out to me, it idled low, and kinda rough, and had a kinda poof poof sound to the exhaust, almost like a miss, it ran well down the highway, and idled better after it was good and warm. From my searching here it may need to have the throttle bodies cleaned? Does that sound reasonable? What kind of fuel mileage can I expect out of it, I ride 30 miles one way to work now and its 65-70 all the way. How much of a gain is it to maybe look into a 6speed vs the 5spd? And I would be adding a different exhaust hopefully soon if I were to buy it. I like the look of the swept pipes, is it best to go to a dealer to have the computer upgraded for the exhaust, or is there other places that do maybe a better job? Thanks for any info, I will have more questions in the future if I do buy it, or one like it.

Yep. You nailed it. Needs a little simple throttle body cleaning. No biggie.

I'm surprised it lasted this long without getting a Stage 1 Flash done to it. I guess the previous owner(s) liked it ok without the extra power.

Yeah. The Stage 1 flash with an air filter and better flowing exhaust should make you smile from ear to ear with this bike. Any chance you can post a couple of pics so we have a better idea of what you're looking at?

If your HWY all the way to work and back 60 miles a day at 65/70, you can think about putting an overdrive pulley on it which will drop your RPM about 300. May give you a +2or3 mpg but more importantly you will really like where your gearing is. Should be able to pick up the pulley for 350 and if you install yourself, a easy day job. The stage 1 flash and exhaust as BBob states would put you right where you want to be performance wise I would think.

Price of 8900?? Im feelin a little high. A quick look at cycle trader shows an 06 with similar package for 8K as well as an 07 and a 08 pushing 10K which they are getting you the 100/6spd. I would think 8K is a fair price, thats just me. You seen the bike and know how much time you want to invest looking for something else to get a little sweeter deal but don't think that V92 is weak and that you gotta have the 6spd. I run an 04 TC V92 54 miles round trip a day and just added the OD pulley and I am around 40 mpg cruising 65/75 for the trip... The bike is tight, sounds great and has the stage 1 flash and level 1 exhaust with a K&N bigmouth filter! See what you can come up with on a little better price or flash, filter and a exhaust thrown in as it would work out about the same. Good luck and keep us posted!!! thumb up

Sorry I have no pics of it, just on my phone. It doesn't say that it has a stage one done to it at all, it was bought at this dealer, traded in, bought and traded in here again. And I thought 8900 was a little high, they don't seem to be a dealer that does any wheelin and dealin either, so I may have to look elsewhere. They have an identical 04 there also, with just a few less extras on it, but with 3000 miles on it for the same price. For the OD pulley, which one does it replace, motor or wheel pulley? What do the 6speed bikes get for mpg? thanks guys!!

Definitely overpriced!

I just bought my 2007 Kingpin Tour which has everything the Deluxe has plus the rear trunk. It had 19,500 miles on it when I picked it up from a private seller for $6,800! I got a great deal. It already has the Victory Performance Stage 1 exhaust kit, kuryakyn grips, throttle lock, highway bars which is everything I would have wanted to add anyway.

However I did look for a KP for 2 months before I found mine and I couldn't find a single 2006+ for less than $8,000.

I can't imagine not having 6th gear on the highway once you get above 70 mph...it's so much quieter and smoother when you drop it into 6th gear! If you aren't in a rush I would hold out for a 2006 so you can have 6 gears.

Definitely needs a throttle body cleaning. My bike would not idle at a stop unless I put the throttle advance on. Cleaned the TB's and just like that it idles fine at 950rpms.

It replaces the pulley on the motor. It is 2 teeth larger. It's not especially difficult to do but you need a rather large socket (48mm I think).

if this link works, this looks like a better deal to me! Whats the difference between the deluxe and the standard KP? Can anyone chime in on what mileage difference there may be from the 5 to 6spd? Also, in 06 is the motor larger and not the 92ci?
The deluxe has the hard saddle bags and maybe a few other small upgrades.

2006 was the year of big changes, the engine went up to 100CI and added the 6 speed OD transmission...in my opinion those 2 changes alone are worth paying an extra $1,500 for a 2006+ Kingpin.

I have never ridden a 5 speed Kingpin but I know that my cousin's 2004 V92TC with the 5 speed only gets about 35 mpg on the highway while my 6 speed Kingpin with a larger engine gets 42 highway. That's not a fair comparison but I doubt the V92TC would be much different from a 2005 Kingpin since they have the same engine and transmission.

Before having engine work done on my 04 Kingpin with a stage 1 kit on, I always got over 40 mpg no matter how I drove it. With the new engine work and OD pulley, I can still get around 40 if I drive moderately. But heck, there ain't much fun in doing that. I usually stomp it's brains out numerous time per fillup and settle for around 38 thumb up. The OD pulley makes a big difference and I catch myself driving in 4th gear frequently...mostly when I am under 2500 rpms.

Thanks for the help! The dealer has an 07 kingpin touring for 11,000, not sure I could go with the fairing though. This helps a lot!

quite a few KPs for sale in the Midwest. Check them out on Craigslist. Some bikes with under 5,000 miles. Great deals. ride them back to MN and make an adventure out of it.:)

There is one in the Chicago area (Joliet) $8,500 with 1600 miles. beautiful bike. A few in your area and a few more in the Chicago area. I looked all over Craigslist and found the bike of my dreams 100 miles from me.

You don't need no stinking overdrive pulley.I have considered it, it might be nice for long rides. But really not necessary.I ride about 60 miles round trip every day on my '05 Kingpin. I ride about 75 mph and get about 38-39 mpg.If I go under 65mph ,I get a consistent 40-42 mpg. And my bike isn't stock.Look at my signature line.
As for price, you will always pay more at the dealer. It is up to you. Will you get good support from your dealer?Or does it matter? Here in Az., private sales on craigslist are going from about $5,000 to about $8500 from what I've seen.
