you got 2 choices, Rt 1 and RT 9. Rt 1 is right along the coast, and Rt 9 is further inland. Both are nice roads but Rt 1 is guaranteed to have better grub!

Maine and Nova Scotia

Route 1 is a nice ride with some great ocean/bay views. Ask locals for best eats. Hope you're headed for Acadia NP at Bar Harbour...one of the most beautiful parks in our nation and an excellent day ride with great spots to stop and take in the view. While I got you though, I have to say that Nova Scotia was one of the best rides of my life. Took the ferry from St. Johns to Digby and ran the coast all the way up to Cape Breton over the Cabot Trail and back down to Halifax. Just south of there is one of my favorite spots, Peggys Cove. Ended the trip at Yarmouth where we took the Cat (an all aluminum car ferry catamaran) back to Bar Harbour. Can't wait to have another go at it! I'll try to find some of my pics to give you an idea of what you can see. cheers

Maine coast ride

Hey, route 1 is much better than Rt 9 unless you are simply in a hurry. Route 1 south from Calais is great, take a few side trips. Do not miss going right off Rt 1 in Harrington onto Rt 182, it will meet up with Rt 1 again further south in Ellsworth. Rt 182 is called the Blackwoods Rd and is a great cruise, lots of curves and views.

From Ellsworth you can go to Mt Desert isle, all sorts of fun rides in Acadia Park on the island.

When are you planning the ride?

Definately go rt 1 - there are so many great places along the way. I always loved Old Orchard Beach when I used to live in Upstate NY. It's a fun little city with a board walk, rides and lots of good bars and resturants - real small town feel with alot going on.
Have fun!

Yep. Take route#1. I happen to live off route 1. Stop at Jordan's Snack Bar for some great food. It's a popular bike and classic car meeting spot. It'll be on your right hand side right before you get into Ellsworth.

Ya...Schoodic Bay is cool. It's a section of Acadia that many folks don't know exists. Also while you are in the area take a meandering ride to Stonington. Real nice little fishing village. Nice views.
