Less than $200 to your door is much cheaper than our alternatives, but they have some funky sizes.

This is their site. So question is has anyone run one of these? The 260/35 would be about 1/3" shorter than a factory 250/40 so it should have little effect on the speedo.

the 260/40 and 260/35 difference might be enough to have mounting issues, so I was trying to see if anyone here has tried it. The vee rubber tires are supposed to have great tread life and are significantly less than the metzeler.
The 250 *.4 = 104 mm diameter
The 260 *.4 = 100 mm diameter
The 260 *.35 = 91 mm diameter
Which in my original post I mentioned only a 1/3" difference, I now stand corrected as I was comparing that to the 260/40. It is a 13mm difference from the stock diameter which results in about a half an inch difference so roughly a 1.2 mph difference at 60 mph. So not enough for me to be concerend about, but the 260/35 will be wider than both the 250/40 and 260/40 and with a shorter sidewall might lead to mounting issues.

NOW, u need to explain to me why a 260/35 would be wider then a 260/40 ????

The 260mm is the same on both... :confused:

That part is unable to be determined without actually mounting the tire or at least I should say I don't know how to determine it. I usually research tirerack prior to purchasing tires for dimension comparisons as they have an extensive amount of specs for most tires they sell, but I haven't found a similar source for motorcycle tires yet. Basically the first number the 260 is the section width when divided by 25.4 (conversion from mm to inches) = 10.24"
10.24 x .4 = 4.1" sidewall height
10.24 x .35 = 3.6" sidewall height
The second numer is the aspect ratio or profile. The lower the second number the shorter the overal diameter gets and the wider the tread width gets. So if you looked at truck tires you would see a high second number like 60 or 70, these tires would have a tall sidewall and a skinnier tread width. I'm probably just being confusing at this point....

OK, now .. let me explain u how i see it ( FACT ) 260mm is 260mm and if the sidewall is 35 % then it would actually be not as wide as if it would be 40% aspect ratio since the tire is beeing pulled in more if mounted on the same wheel.
The only thing that could be is that the 260 Monster is a tat wider then the 260 Metzler since they sometimes use 260 as a ballpark and not as a real messurement !

But it has nothing or even the oposit to do with the aspect ratio !!!thumb up

if you sat the two tires next to each other the
260/40 is slightly taller and skinnier when compared to
260/35 which would be slightly shorter and wider
The odd shape of motorcycle tires when compared to automotive tires probably has less of an effect. If you looked at a 285/40 and 285/30 car tire the difference would be noticable, but that is because of the shape of the automotive tire. I'm probably over analyzing these tires, but I have spent a lot of time maxing the tire sizes on cars and it's spilling over to motos.

Just a couple of notes:

1) speed rating is 1 step lower than both E3's and ME880's (H vs V)
2) the Dunlop E3 (OEM) 250/40VR18 is $189 to your door (on sale right now @ motorcycle-superstore.com, not sure what their regular price is though)

seatlle good find, it looks like all there tires are on sale right now
$189 for the e3 is killer
$299 for the metzeler 260 is good too, but $110 is a lot for a few mm
