I am seriously shopping for a USED Victory cruiser right now, and live in Austin, Texas. The nearest Victory dealer is Napalm Motorsports in northwest metro Austin. I am getting mixed feelings about them, and want to solicit comments, favorable or unfavorable, from others who have actually dealt with them or have a friend who has.

My own experiences there have been mixed.

The service department has treated me very well and has done competent work every time I took my Honda VTX 1800 there (new tires, state safety inspections, new front brake light switch, etc). Prices were reasonable each time.

The sales people however turn me off. They want to sell every new bike at MSRP plus every fee they can think of, and of course your trade is worth next to nothing. On used bikes, their asking prices are high, and they don't negotiate to the extent I am used to seeing at bike dealers.

So, I have pretty much decided that I won't be buying a used Victory from them, but I have seen their service people as competent, responsive, and fair.

But, one of the private sellers i talked with bought his used Victory from Napalm, and he not only found the purchase process uncomfortable, but he also had a surprising disappointment from the service department.

Today, I talked to a non-franchised used bike dealer I have learned I can trust via many years of easy, pleasant, and fair transactions, both buying from him and selling to him. I asked him if he ever gets used Victorys to sell. He told me that he used to, but now will only buy and sell Victory bikes when he gets an opportunity to buy unusually low (like from a car dealer who took the bike in on trade) and sell for his normal price, and thus make a bit extra. I asked why. He says it is specifically because Napalm, the only dealer between 2 other dealers that are about 110 to 120 miles apart, has done needed diagnostics and repairs for him so poorly.

These 2 reports within 3 days scare me. Napalm is only about 25 miles form my home, but the next nearest dealer is maybe 40 to 50 miles, and the dealer in the other direction is about 90 to 100 miles. I have no trailer, and no car designed to pull one anyway. That makes service-while-i-wait less possible.

So, I'm asking, before I commit myself to a Victory via an actual purchase:

What experience have those of you had with Napalm, who have either actually dealt with them or what have you heard from a friend who has?

When I lived down in CenTex, I dealt with them a few times. Not a bad place however I do my own maintenance on my Vic, if I had a question it felt like I was schooling them vs them helping me or they never had a part I needed. Thats with a lot of vic dealerships I've dealt with though. I've found for the best deal on a Victory ebay, and cycle trader have been my best bet...hell i rode from ep to arlington to pick up a bike from buyyourmotorcycle. You'll probably get a better deal @ dreammachines

Definitely go to Kents in Kyle. Napalm is a joke, they don't really know what they are talking about with sales or service (from my experience at least). Dream Machines sales people are great, I've looked at plenty of bikes in there and never that nagging hassle.

I bought my 08 Kingpin from Napalm Motorsports back July last year. Ken was the salesman and is very knowledgeable, as were the personnel in the shop. I was not overly impressed with the parts department, but that is probably par for the course. If you are buying a bike, car, boat or any other toy around Austin, expect to pay top price for it. Too many rich people, if you won't pay the price somebody else will.
