I call bullshit... I blip my throttle all the time. (Ex motocross/Arenacross rider as well). My bike has never died while blipping to downshift. KevinX is a reputable guy on this forum and I believe there is some truth to what he says. That being said this sounds like a more extreme issue. Disconnect your O2 sensors and see if that makes a difference. Since I installed pipes and PCV my 13 Highball blipping is causing some more popping. That could also be cause I am in love with my exhaust sound though and am a blipping fool. Who cares about how much fuel one uses on a motorcycle? Ride for 2 hrs buy more fuel... Just saying.

Well if your riding hard and there is a corner coming up or have to make a quick stop blipping is necessary. If you don't blip you run the risk of a compression slide and loss of control. Talk to any racer and they will give you the same answer. Or just watch a superbike / supercross / motocross / supermotard race.
