I'm jumping ship, or maybe I'm off the kool-aid but after 3 HD bikes I'm looking at what other choices are out there. I did the sport bike thing in my 20's, jump to HD in my 30's.

Look forward to the advice.

I rode FXRs for almost 20 years. Have always wanted a Victory since they were first made. I was working for Titan Motorcycle at the time when they came out. I thought back then,..."ah, a bit ugly, but I see a great American platform to start from".

So now owning a 99 V92c, I can honestly say. I dig the Vic. It is a great riding and handling bike. I do not miss the Harley at all. My wife still has a softtail I built for her, but this thing pulls hard against hers. And it has a Kendall Johnson hot89 motor in it. You won't regret the change. But it is a different ride. Different set of noises to get use to. :)

Enjoy!

Hey Travis...

While I've not owned an HD... I have owned a number of bikes. The Victory, by far, is a superior ride. The only thing that I needed to get used to is the clunk of the transmission when shifting gears. It's not a bad thing, just something I wasn't accustomed to.

I have a '16 Gunner and she is the MOST forgiving bike I have ever ridden. I've done some dumb **** with her (i.e. a wet road with a tight curve, diving in too fast) and she has always pulled me out of the mess.

Take a test ride... I doubt you will be disappointed.

Cheers!!!

To answer the question...

Idaho, under $30K and the

Cross County, Magnum X-1,
HD RoadGlide,
Indian Chieftain
Goldwing F6B

95% of the time I'm solo and the wife rides once or twice a year with me to a rally. So two up matters from time to time.

I came from sport bikes for the last 20 years or so. I have owned my '14 Vegas 8 Ball for about a week now. I can honestly say that after switching over from sport to cruiser, I did not make a mistake going for the Vegas. Victory makes some damn nice bikes, and at about half the cost of some of the others, it just made sense. Like someone else said though, the clunky loud tranny takes some getting used to but I love it and will never go back. The dealer I got mine from just gave me a full Bassani Pro Sport exhaust to make it a bit louder and it just rumbles down the road. Not TOO loud like some of the cruisers and baggers, but loud enough for someone that is in a 4 wheeler near me to hear it and know I'm there. Over all, Victory bikes are a great choice and I will be upgrading in about 3 years to the Arlen Ness XC.

Instead of asking all these questions. You should really go rent what you want for a day and see what you think. A hour test ride will not tell you much. The bikes you mentioned are all good bikes. Some faster then others. There all good road bikes and easy to get around in town. I tested 5 vision before I said yeas to one.
After you spend a day on them you'll know what you"ll like.
Go to any of the other brand forums and you'll hear all the good but you should decide for self. You're the one that has to live with it

Ummm I must have missed something, I haven't asked any questions. I answered a question. Its the "introduction thread" .. but it's your ballpark, I'll see myself out.

As in test ride, the local dealer did a 10 min loop and looked at me stupid when I asked if we could take a run on the highway. When I asked about a rental was told it was HD & Goldwings only by 4 places near me.

I got a 2016 cross country base model but had it custom painted, 26" front wheel kit, custom bars, lowered 1.5", exhaust, custom stereo, grips, custom rear master cylinder, bag fillers and a few more other things and am still under 30k. Forgot to mention a custom low profile trunk for passengers. The ride is great and it handles real well even with the large front wheel. I am sure after a test ride you will be real happy with any Victory
