Hi to all.
My name is Gary.
I have been riding Harley's for years, I have a 2010 FXDC I loved this bike at first, but it has a harsh motor vibration problem at certain rpm and HD will not help me. Any one here that is registered on the HD-FORUMS can look up all my threads under my user name GPHDXLC and you can read about my problems with this bike. I have a friend with a 05 Vegas and I have put some miles on her and it's a nice ride, but it's not a Harley and that has always been my problem with Polaris bikes. But now after 3 Harley's I may be on my last one. I'm really interested in talking with guys that own and loved Harley's but came over to the Polaris Victory's. There is 2 Victory's I'm interested in, a Vegas or a Cross Roads. Both of them have things I don't like and I'm trying to overcome them. I have owned and loved Polaris Snowmobiles but as for there bike's I don't know much. My friend with the Vegas isn't real up to date on the newer Victory's plus he cant find a Dealer in Michigan that he is impressed with, so that could come in to play too. So if I jump in with what may seem like some dumb question's please be patient with me, I'm just trying to learn...Thank you.

Good to have you here. Hope you get a straight answer to all your questions. Have you ridden a Victory yet? The Fuel It Demo trucks are running around the country, and you might want to keep an eye for when you get one in your area. It's a great opportunity to sample the bikes, and deal with those things you said you didn't like about the two bikes you like.

Here's the schedule: http://www.polarisindustries.com/en-us/Victory-Motorcycles/Demo-Rides/Pages/EventSchedule.aspx

I've never owned an HD so I can't comment except from friends. I know people that have converted from HD to Vic and never looked back. I know a couple of people that went back to HD. A lot of times it comes down to personal preference.

Saying all that. I've been riding Victory's since 06. I worked at a dealership and had my own Victory customizing business.

These bikes are pretty much bullet proof aside from the 00 and some 01 models that had the tranny issue.

The bikes are oil and AIR (thanks Jokerman for pinting that out! LOL)cooled and you would be hard pressed to get them to overheat even in parade riding.

Vibration is less than HD but the new X bikes (short for Cross Bikes. XC=Cross Country, XR=Cross Roads) are said to have a vibration at speed where the HD seems to smooth out. That may be attributed to the new frame.

I test road two XC bikes at the Fuel It tours and they both exhibited vibration at 50+ mph. One bike was terrible (later told by the Vic rep it was a pre production demo model) the other XC was much smoother but still had some vibration.

Out of the box you have more CI and HP with a Vic than a standard model HD.

Dealers..........that IS the big downfall to Victory ownership. There aren't a lot of dealers and even less KNOWLEDGEABLE Victory mechanics. Luckily we have KevinX as a member here who is a Vic mechanic and considered in the Victory community to be one of if not THE Victory authority.

You really only need the dealer to purchase accessories and normal maintenance and wear and tear items. That can all be done through the mail.

IF you have a problem with your bike. 9 times out of 10 you can ask the question here and the answer will be given to you AND it is something that you more than likely can do on your own!thumb up

One thing you definitely need to do. Go to a Victory dealer and test ride the bikes you like. It is encouraged by Victory and the dealers know it is the best selling point.

cheers

CrossRoads and diamondrmp thanks for your straight forward answers. For now I will lay low and try to read and learn more about the newer Victory's. In time as I get more comfortable here, I will ask more questions to address my concerns about Polaris bike's. Would love to hear from guys that loved Harley and now have a Victory, why did you switch? how do you feel now? that kind of thing... Thanks guys, looking forward to learning more.

I had a 09 street glide and feel in love with the vision and now its mine. Its a shame that you H D dealer doesn't want to help you. You know there are more then one dealers out there.
Go to you tube and you can find all kinds of videos. The is one where Arizona victory con pairs a victory motor to a harley and if I would have seen that it wouldn't have taken me so long to make up my mind.
If you have friends they will give you some grief at first but when you leave them in the dust they'll change there way of thinking. The model you asked about I know nothing except I keep seeing more of them. They come with some great color condemnations.
At this site you will see there are guys with problems but keep in mind its only a small percent of the bikes that are out there. When spring comes go to a dealer and test ride them. I test rode a vision 5 times and then couldn't sleep i wanted on so bad.
By the way I have owned 16 harleys and will never go back.
Good Luck on what ever you decide. wac

Thanks for your response. I've had it to 3 Dealers and there is nothing they will do to fix it under Warranty. HD considers it normal because of the high crank run-out number that HD has now on the newer models.
When you have some time, could you PM me with details on how you went from a 09 SG to a Vision...Thank you.

No the Vegas is NOT a Harley...but then again the Vic doesn't leak oil...and for the most part you can talk to the dealer.....Harley dealers tend to develop what I refer to as the "Harley Attitude"...

Hey Diamond: When I read your post:The bikes are oil and water cooled and you would be hard pressed to get them to overheat even in parade riding. I was kinda wondering if you added a radiator to your Vic? LOL:ltr:

Guess that's why they call me the:
