Is there anything a person should be concerned about when looking at old new stock.
2011 vision still on dealer floor has my eye, but am curious if I should be conerned at all with it sitting longer then expected?

Wouldn't worry about it. I bought my new '09 in the fall of 2010, it was still in the crate. As long as it's being sold as new and has the full warranty shouldn't be any problem. My dealer still has a couple of new 2010 models sitting on the floor.

I bought my 2010 Vision 8 Ball this past August. The 6K off sticker calmed any worries I had about it being a hold over. The bike only had 12 miles on it so I checked it out very closely. Two things I found: Rear brake was soft, the system needed to be bled and belt tension was incorrect. The dealer might have found these and maybe not. They took care of them and I was a happy camper.

It's rather humorous to me that there are so many riders who caution us about the proper way to store a bike over the winter or for any other extended period of time; yet when a dealer has had a bike in his inventory for an extended period of time, all is good and don't worry about it.

Actually, the dealer scenario would worry me more. Who do you think cares more about the bike? You or a dealer?

The same set of rules do not apply to a dealer for some reason... but, those left over bikes have not been treated well. That is not to say that they have been abused, but most likely they have been neglected.

Date the tires... date the fuel... date the lubricants... date the updates and recalls... etc... etc.

Maybe I'm a bad bike owner, but my bike is in cold storage right now, while at my local dealer, his last years bikes are in the 'off season' section of his heated showroom.
If you are going to buy a new old stock, the dealers still do a PDI of the bike before they hand them over to you, it doesn't hurt to just ask for new oil, fuel, etc. before you get it.

My dealer has a Ness 2011 vision and hes willing to deal. Only a select few of us love the bike.
Its not like the other bikes out there.
Buy it get then to throw in the first 500 mile check up. That will save you $250 bucks. I'm a firm believer that we should not pay for the dealer to look the bike over to see if the factory built it right.
$250 for a oil change is a bunch of BS. Yes they check the cables and what ever but if you buy a new car you don't go threw this BS.

I can tell that you really believe that the dealers do the PDI on a bike before they deliver it... they may assemble it some, but I can guarantee that they do minimal PDI at any time whatsoever.

Cold storage, heated storage... it's still storage. You, I am sure winterized the systems on the bike before you put it in storage... drain oil... trickle charge the battery... treat or empty fuel... etc. The dealer in his heated space does none of these prep items for storage. The number one problem with leftover bikes is the battery... most dealers just let them sit on the bikes and generally they need jumped off in order to start... the oil has never been changed... the tires are dated... the fuel is stale... etc.
