It's nice to meet ya'll. I'm from Alabama, but I'm living in NOLA. I just bought a 2010 Victory Cross Country with 2600 miles on it and just sold my 2002 V92C TC Deluxe. I'm still working out the bugs on my new XC.

I have a wobble at 60 to 80 MPH. It's not a handle bar slapping the tank type wobble. It's more like the tail dancing around. The XC still has the E3's that came with the bike on it. I don't see any unusual marks on the tires. I jacked the bike up and the triple tree feel nice and smooth without any slack in any direction. The front tire spins true and doesn't have any slack in any direction. I can't find anything on the bike that feels loose or with slack.

When I go to pass a 18 wheeler the bike has a bad wobble. The wobble starts to increase 4 truck lengths back. I can open my hands on the handle bars and don't feel the handle bars slapping either hand.

Where is this wobble coming from?

From what I have read here and other places, the E3's seems to be know for causing a wobble. When I first got the bike and checked the tire pressure, the dealer had both set at 60 psi. The wobble was real bad at that pressure. I set the front at 38 and the rear at 40 psi. I also set the air shock at 25 psi for my weight. This reduced the amount of wobble, but didn't eliminate it. It did give the bike a smoother ride.

Cheers cheers

Welcome aboard, Johnny. I'm new here as well. Those semis push a lot of air out of the way just moving down the freeway. Sounds pretty normal to me. Do a little dancing as you hit the wake turbulence a few car lengths back, get sucked in as the flow smoothes out along side then kicked out as you pass the bow shock. If that's the only time she wobbles, you're golden. That big fairing on the front might take some getting used to as well in that respect. I've had a few tank slappers in my time but they weren't caused by the tire per se - or a truck - but a mech fault like a bad bearing - wheels, triple tree, swing arm etc. Sounds like your bike's pretty tight, though. Those E3s aren't great tires but they're not bad. Give them a while at their right pressure and see what develops. Just mind those semis.

Hi Bill.

Thank you for the reply. You may be right about the big fairing on the XC. The wobble isn't just when I come up on and pass a semi. I feel it just riding down the road. The semi just intensifies it. My V92C TC Deluxe had the big windshield and winglets. I never had the wobble with it. I did feel the turbulence off the semi's and the big bow wave. I don't remember the road glide having this wobble, but the fairing was attached to the frame.

This feels more like a wobble or tail dance on the XC. I'll get the swing arm and rear wheel this weekend.

I think this maybe the reason the bike only had 2600 miles on it when I bought it. Some bikes just need a little tuning or TLC to get them right. I'll get'er dialed in before long. I'm just asking around to see if someone else had a similar problem and what they did to fix it.

Cheers
