Hello,
First post....

I'm about to pull the trigger on a '12 Vegas tomorrow. Deal is almost done, but I still can negotiate. I was wondering what others have paid. The list is $14,499 but with all the fees, doc and tax it comes to about $16,500. I know we have to pay the tax (around $1200), but I'm wondering if the other fees are out of line. Any help would be apprecitated...

As for your question, the dealer took 200 bucks off the MSRP for me driving 2.5 hours there, then there was a $500 coupon from Polaris that basically covered the documentation fees and platinum security thing. So all in all I paid the MSRP plus applicable taxes. Hope that gives you an idea.

Well I took the plunge. Bought the Vegas for 16 OTD (tax here is pretty steep). First impresions..wonderful ergonomics. Everything is in the right place. Smooth, just a great bike. There's only one thing....the tranny is very clunky, especially 2nd and 3rd. The dealer warned me that that is normal for this bike. Is this because it's new and needs some breaking in? It's nothing major, but it's a little louder than what I'm used to.

Hi USM and welcome to Victory and the forum :)

I can confirm that 2nd and 3rd do sound a little on the clunky side - also struck me when I first took the bike. The 'jolt' does smooth out in 2nd and 3rd (putting into 1st always gives you this), though it will always be a trademark I think (I'm 2000 miles into the bike) and to be honest it gets less noticeable as well as comfortable the longer the love affair continues.

the tranny will smooth out after the first oil change, and even the next. as the other attest, it will always be a bit clunkier than the competitors, by the very nature of the construction. rest assured these trannies are stronger than their counterparts.

also, once you get louder pipes on, the shift clunk becomes FAR less noticeable particularly at speed.

I have another question...it pertains to the heads up display. I tried looking in the owners manual, but it leaves much to be desired.

There are two mode in the display..Standard (which has RPM, odomoter, trip, etc) and accessory which shows fuel economy and a bunch if other stuff. The manual doesn't say how to switch between the two modes. Any thoughts?

Hi USM,

You have the standard features when you buy the bike (ODO, trip and tacho) and then if you want the additional features (extra trip, volts, etc) you have to buy the unlock code from the dealer. I understand it that the info is already in the unit, it just needs to be "unlocked".

You can also independently or with the upgrade have a temperature sensor installed so that you can use the ambient temperature part of the upgrade.

Ok thanks. I called the dealer and they are clueless to this unlock. I'll talk to the service guy tomorrow. Honestly if I have to pay for it, I really don't care if I have it at all. I do wish I had a gas gauge though...
