Hello everyone! I'm the proud, new owner of a 2012 Victory Hammer 8 ball! I am ecstatic to say the least. I am absolutely blown away by this bike. I test drove a few different bikes 1st, a 2010 Dyna Glide and then a few others. This model just feels great to me. I am thinking I will need a windscreen or fairing of some sort, 70+ mph with no screen was beating me up a bit, lol. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Greg. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I have a suggestion, reply to this post and then the forum will be unlocked. After that, I suggest you show us some pictures of your bike! :grin

The first thing I did to my bike was put star washers on the battery terminals. Loose terminals cause all sorts of problems for Vics. From obvious issues to your wildest imagination.... the battery connections could be the culprit.

Welcome to the fray brother!

Hello, welcome to the forum, awesome to have another member

Yes there are some realy small wind deflectors on the market for the hammer (steel frame) bikes, they work well ...

Congratulations on the new bike....be safe and enjoy it. I have a new 2016 Hammer S and installed the Cobra/Vic Stage 1 system and a Mohawk windscreen. The system on my bike will fit yours and it's discounted at LeadersRPM. Check out the link.

I also found an amazing deal on a Corbin Smuggler seat, which has a trunk for the rear section. The Corbin is way better than the stock seat which I found uncomfortable after 30 or 40 minutes of riding.

I almost purchased a new Hammer 8-ball, but the dealer was out of state and shipping would be involved. That killed that deal, but I got a decent deal on my Hammer S from a somewhat local dealership closing out their Victory inventory.

Hi Greg
read the section in your owners book about checking oil. A 2x4 can be your friend

Spacecoast, do you like the Mohawk screen? How effective is it at highway speeds? Thanks for the heads up on the deals, I'm definitely looking to accessorize!

If the Mohawk screen was say 5 or 6 inches wider, it would be excellent...but it's not. It's "ok" for me because a lot of my riding is 60 mph or less, but if I was doing 70+ mph interstate speeds, then I would want something different. I wanted something more than a fly screen, but less than a big windscreen, so this was the only one I liked the looks of. It does keep most of the wind off my chest, but because its so narrow and I'm so far behind the screen, the wind manages to go "around" the screen by the time it gets to me so I still get a lot of wind pressure.

Thanks for the honest opinions, Spacecoast. Looks like I will probably have to get a larger windscreen. Hopefully I can find a detachable one, ride in town without, out of town with it on.

Looks great. I really like the overall style and wheels. By the way, I installed a set of these and find them much better than the stock pegs. I did shave off the inside rubber lip to make them more flat, since that was my goal. Started with mini floorboards, but thought there were just too big. I got the chrome, but they have all black too.
