Hi everyone,

My name is Jake I live in NH and recently bought a previously enjoyed 2005 Kingpin. I had been shopping for a bike for months and it was between a HD and a Victory. Though the Kingpin was not my first choice I couldn't pass up the deal. After putting a few hundred miles on this past weekend I really like the bike. I've been out of Motorcycling for over 10 years and am easing back into it. I need some accessories though and some pipes for sure! I'm sure I'll have a lot of question so thanks to everyone in advance.

Welcome Rob and congrats on the purchase. The KP is a friggin great bike I think and not sure what year HD you were looking at but keep one important thing in mind about your choice. Near maint free! Alot of good info on the mods your speaking of, make sure to update your signature with bike year and accy as a reference for us here. Welcome and safe ridin!!!

Jake, methinks you made the better choice with that KP, on so many levels. The best first things you can do for your bike and yourself are bleed the brakes (unless that has been done within the last 2 years) and take a rider course. You'd be amazed what that course is going to learn ya!
Speaking of brakes; If the original pads are still in the bike, replace the fronts with EBC HH pads for measurably improved stopping performance. The stock pads were the only gripe I had about my XR, which has the same front end as yours. They weren't bad, just not nearly as wonderful as the EBCs.
Still enjoying the great maple syrup we brought home from NH last summer. Good stuff!
Oh, and a big Northwet welcome to the forum, Jake.

Thanks for the welcome and I do believe after everything I've seen and read that the Victory is the right choice over the HD although a few of my buddies think I'm crazy. Those are also the buddies that don't know there is other manufacturers besides HD. I wanted an American made V-twin. I have had Polaris snowmobiles, atvs and side X sides and know what a great product they manufacture! I am happy with my decision and look forward to warm weather ... If it ever comes!

Congrats on the purchase! I also bought a Kingpin last year and couldn't be happier with the purchase! Awesome bikes! Victory bikes are better looking, higher performance and significantly better reliability. HD guys hate to admit that but it's true! thumb up
