OK, long story short: After years (and years) of more sport oriented riding, it's time to slow down a bit. I still have a Yam FZ1 and it is capable of all the sport riding I need to do. I recently sold my GSX-R 750 which was a (barely) street legal track bike, again, as a means to slow the F down. Also, don't see many track days ahead. If a group track event comes up that is more of a social event, the FZ1 will suffice.

Now then, I've been searching since the sale for a cruiser of some sort. Something 1100+ with floor boards and specifically NOT a HD. (nothing personal, just personal exp. and value) I looked at all the metrics. Rode everything except a Suzuki (like the meanstreak though). They all have their pluses/minuses. I was leaning toward a Vulcan (just seemed to fit me), actually, but didn't find the deal I was looking for.

Then I stumbled upon an 03 92C on E-bay and after riding it, WOW! This is the one I want. Fit finish, condition, price, etc all fell into my list of acceptable criteria.

After about 3 weeks, I love the bike! Although I'm still getting used to the different mindset required to ride a cruiser, I am enjoying the more relaxed pace. It's more relaxed without being boring... There is plenty of power available any time. I just need to learn the extent to which I can dive into corners. Well "dive" might not be the correct word. Let's just say I'm easing into the cornering limits of this bike.

So far only thing I changed was removing the leather saddle bags, which function well, but are not my style for daily use.

I will need a front tire soon, so I will be finding out the difference in that job. Yeah, I do change my own. The rear looks like fun, mostly due to exhaust removal.

Only complaints so far? Not crazy about the required premium fuel :(, but I can live with that since gixxer needed it too. Also the suspension ( or lack there of compared to what I'm used to) is a bit stiff. Need to reduce preload out back and maybe change fluid up front? :confused:

I'm currently following the oil and/or filter debate. Undecided as to which path to follow there. Every forum seems to have extensive info on this, so I feel right at home. :cool:

Other than that, some wind protection may be in order for anything extensive in the high mileage travel dept.

I'll try to search before asking too many questions. Although I may get lazy now and then, so we'll just have to deal with that when the time comes wac Pix will come when allowed...

Rockn, I can empathize with your conversion to a cruiser. After over 60 years, on standards and touring bikes (1st gen Yamaha Ventures since '83) cancer and maybe age demanded a lower seat height and CG if I was to continue riding. That meant a cruiser and I have disliked then all those years. Like you, I tried many, no H-Ds and no cigars. Then Victory hit the market with the Cross bikes--it was like they asked guys like me, "OK Mr. Cruiser Hater, what would it take to get you to buy one of ours?" And they did it in spades. I am a cruiser convert and will not go back to having to fold my legs for hours. Also, I have only one bike for the fist time in decades, as my XR does it all for me from errands to long distance tours. Welcome to the club Rockn.

I do need to correct myself (Since editing is not yet allowed) The Susuki that had my eye was the M-109 and M-90, but lack of floor boards eliminated that. Same with the Yam warrior and the Kaw meanstreak.

Overall the Vic Classic is the much better match for me.

One more thing I need is some sort of small bag for tools/flashlight etc. as there is zero storage without the saddle bags.

Keep your eye out for a yellow one if you're in the NC/SC/GA/TN mountains. Might be me.

I wouldn't let that limit you. You can likely find floorboards for just about any of these big cruisers. I had a Yami Warrior and I put floorboards on it.

I'm still a recovering sport junkie myself. Still like to watch/talk racing, but few around here are interested.

Anyway, you're right about these bikes not being boring. If anything, they only limit the pace to something somewhat appropriate for public roads...even if that is a few times the posted limits. thumb up

I wouldn't let that limit you. You can likely find floorboards for just about any of these big cruisers. I had a Yami Warrior and I put floorboards on it.
