Hi all, I think I have an idea the answer to these questions but I wanted to poke them around here.

I just purchased my 13' 8ball. I love everything about it minus the bulky OEM mufflers. I took them off to hear what they would sound like (knowing it would be much louder). It does sound great to me but my concern is that most of these bikes are EFI now. Will this greatly, negatively effect the mapping of the fuel curve? Will it make the bike run dangerously lean? Would a dealer/Vic shop remap the ECU if possible?

I've done a search, so I apologize for the thread. I have read a lot and it appears things will be fine with the mufflers removed. I am not worried about the minimal torque/hp loss considering the weight I will be saving.

I think my only question is I want to leave the cat baffles in. It does not appear they will fall out. Can I leave those in without worrying about them falling out?

No they shouldn't fall out

Your a bad lier if you say you don't care about power. Once you take the mufflers off you'll find out

I never said anything about not caring about power. I do love the power don't get me wrong but I went from riding a 38hp supermoto to this Vegas. Im simply stating that I doubt I will miss the minimal loss. The looks of the mufflers gone outweighs that immensely.

I run the D&D slip ons. Good combination of deep sound with no power loss. D&D actually gained 7 rwhp on the dyno.

I was attempting to take the mufflers off my 2012 Hammer 8-ball and I couldn't get them off. I took all the the bolts off but couldn't get the clamp to loosen to pull the mufflers off. Am I missing something?

Yea, they are not easy to twist off but they will eventually as long as the clamp is loose. I took them off and then ended putting them back on. I decided that I just spent 13K on a brand new motorcycle and I don't plan on ruining the engine but taking these off. It may be extreme but I will save and get a full set of pipes with the fuel management system and do it the right way.

I was thinking I'd love to get my hands on a set of black take-offs for cheap (as it's scary I'll bet the dealer dumpsters are full) so I could cut out the baffles and try to find some replacement slip-on baffles that sounded good but still flowed properly (like what's in the D&D's). I know drilling them certainly isn't the sound I'd go for and I imagine all that does is increase flow while still sounding like a sewing machine, just louder.
