Don't have a Victory dealer anywhere locally. In fact, I don't think we have an official one in the entire country at the moment.

Anybody know the oil filter's spec. or alternatives that I can use?

Thanks.

Stay away from the Purolator Pure One oil filter. It is a very good filter but it may be to restrictive for the Victory engine for oil flow.

I can't remember where I read it but there was a piece about oil filters and the Victory engine and that filter was said to not be a good choice.

That is not a knock on the filter as it is a very good filter just not for a Victory engine.

Vic runs at Higher Oil pressure than the puro was designed for ...

I had a credit from Rockauto so I ended up buying a bunch of the Wix filters after reading good reviews. Unfortunately they aren't available in chrome like the Vic, but it's pretty hidden by the chrome oil filter side plate/cover.

Purolator oil filters (ML)!

All,
Please be advised!!
Purolator ML 16851 is manufactured for Victory motorcycles.
This is not the auto specific oil filter that has a different designation.
ML is for motorcycles!

I bought the reusable stainless mesh filter from Witchdoctors. Yes it is expensive, but I never have to buy another. There are generic versions on flea bay for under $100.

Being a brand new owner, just want to make sure I understand the oil stuff. I am pretty knowledgable of oil viscosity stuff. I ride all year, so I am more concerned about winter, and on my current cycle, I switch to 10-40 in winter. My current metric lists 10-40 and 20-50 as oils.

The XC manual states 20-40, but listed above are several non 20-40 oils. How does this fit in with the warranty etc? Just want to cover myself during the winter. I have seen several comments about noise at startup etc and it seems that Vic would talk about winter and low temperatures in their oil choices.

What metric calls for 20w50? For Vic run any of the 5w40, 10w40, 15w40, 20w40 oils that are Jaso MA approved. skip the 50 weight.

If you know your viscosity, you will know that the first number is oil viscosity when cold. As soon as the engine warms up the oil will be at the second number. Vic recommends 40 weight, so keep with that and you will be good.

Warranty, I don't stress about. The engines are bullet proof and if something goes wrong, tell them you use Victory oil. How are they going to know?

Startup noises, I don't care about either. It's going to make some noises. I wear ear plugs and just ride. And ride the hell out of it.

That article linked above (here) indicates that the "ML" line of Purolator filters are made in China and rebranded as a Purolator.

No thanks for me! ;)
