Yeah, yeah, I know:rolleyes:.

Been looking but can't find in the specs anywhere on the oil capacity or the wt. range of the recommended oil.
Got to be there somewhere - any of you folks seen that info??

From page 101 in the Owner's manual (http://cdn.polarisindustries.com/polaris/common/parts-manuals/9924041r01_lo_res.pdf)
Capacities
Engine Oil 5 qt. (4.75 l)
Approximately 4.5 qt. (4.25 l) at oil change

And from page 103
Engine Oil Recommendation
Polaris Recommends the use of VICTORY brand Semi-Synthetic 20W-40 Motor Oil or equivalent motorcycle oil that is approved for use in wet clutch transmissions (such as those with a JASO MA rating).

Goat,
The OP didn't specify which bike, since this is posted in the Indian Motorcycle forum, I think he meant he was interested in info for the new Indian.

Just a guess since he didn't specify.

Gotta love it, just came out Saturday and already got an "Oil Thread" :crzy::ltr:

Yep, just curious about how much oil the new Indians hold. Found a ride review that said 5.5 qts but it made no mention to the wt. range.

According to Total Motorcycle.com (http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/motorcycles/2013models/2013-Indian-Thunder-Stroke-111-Engine.htm)

Oil Type 20W-40

And the 2014 brochure (http://cdn.polaris.com/ind/2014/downloads/brochure/Indian-Motorcycle-2014-Brochure.pdf)

Indian Motorcycle® 20W-40 Semi-Synthetic Blend Motor Oil 2880012

There is even a picture of the bottle it comes in as well :)

Still doesn't answer the amount. I would suspect that it will be 5 quarts as well but that is strictly as guess.
*Posted while you were posting the amount so I assume 5.5 would be correct.

BTW, crazy as this may sound  I would be willing to bet that if you put Victory oil and Indian Oil in unmarked containers, an oil lab wouldn't be able to tell them apart... I know, I know, I don't know how I ever come up with these crazy ideas :p
