I just picked up a oil dipstick thermometer for my 08 kingpin. It is stock other than a stage 1 upgrade and pipes. What is the normal oil temperature range supposed to be?

The best advice any of us can give you is put some ducktape over the oil temp gauge and ride the hell out of your bike.
You'll find the gauge doesn't give accurate information and all it will do is scare you.

Ditch the "stress stick" man. Plenty to stress about in life, don't need this to ad to it.
But to answer your question: anywhere between 200 and 250 from what I've been told.

thanks for the info. Wasn't wanting to stress, just wanted to have an idea of where it should be.

On a Harley which does not have a oil cooler sitting in the sun at a stop light idling can get up to almost 290 degrees. That is why in a Harley they run 20W50 oil. With a Victory the temp will not get that hot so you run 15W40. Oil temp stopped at light might get to 275 but it might have to be out in the dessert area. :mad:

mine runs about 200 degrees when moving. When stopped for a few minutes it climbs to about 230-250. I haven't seen it get above 250.

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious. On that note, I went and tried the unplug on my O2 sensors because of the slight backfire issue I had while shifting up through the gears. Not only did it bring the backfiring to a stop, but it also made the motor run about 20 degrees cooler from around 200 down to around 180. It also runs like a scalded dog now because it's eating a little more fuel. Will leaving them unplugged do anything to my engine longterm etc...? I like it this way but dont want to void warranty or anything.

You will foul the plugs sooner and waste more gas. Did you take your cats system off also? This will plug up the catalyst sooner by running it rich all the time. It was designed to burn unused gas.

I wasn't really worried about the mileage or plugs as much, but I didn't really think about the CATs in that way. Good point. Im gonna see what the mileage really does first. If it's not a big loss, I might just get rid of the CATs or just do it right with a fuel controller.

These gauges aren't very accurate so, just use it as a reference. Meaning, if it normally runs x at y ambient then it's good. That's what I do. Mine usually with ambient temps in the 100 deg.range oil runs 220-230, goes to 280-290 in the 115 deg range sittin at a long light.
