hi wingman, note i live in so. calif. so cold weather is anything below 40 , not trying to rub it in, however i have spent some time in canada and europe, and being an ex. journeyman V W mechanic, i believe in synthetic, it has been documented to " attatch itself " to metal clean v/s old in my opinion is not the question, more like how long , how cold, in canada we changed all oils to thin stuff, oils flow at a lower sae rating as in ow/30
put some gas stabilizer in, pull the plugs and squirt some marvel mistery oil in there, put the pluge back in , spray some oil on a rag or rags andstuff them up the end of your open muffler, before starting the bike in the spring pull the plugs and turn the engine over several revolutions to make sure you have oil thru out , before starting. hopefully you have a garage to keep her in, or like me in the early yrs I kept my bike in the house, not because it was cold, i didn't want to take any chances of her getting stolen.
best regards
steve
