Hello,

I am in the market for a new bike. I am torn between the KP and XC. If I didn't have the wife, I would no doubt go with the KP because I just dig the looks of it. However, I want to take her on some longer rides (200 miles apprx) and be comfortable. What kind of comfort feed back do you guys and gals get from your paxs on the back of your KP?

Thanks!

Never owned a KP but from 05 to 08/09 the Kingpin was the tour bike for Victory. Many people did great things to their KP's for touring and seemed to love it.

Are you looking at the Cross Country or the Crossroads? It seems to me that if you prefered the Kingpin you'd be comparing with the Crossroads, not the Cross Country. You'd end up saving about $1000 by choosing the Crossroads and you'd end up with a much larger set of saddlebags.

The Kingpin does look a lot nicer though. The front fender put me off the Crossroads even though it was a better deal. No wife to worry about though.

RE: Comfort

I have a 2006 KP and really like it for driver comfort. The stock seat is not very comfortable, but there are a lot of after market seats that people seem to like (e.g. Mustang). I have a custom seat that I like. Wife was not happy with the stock passenger seat either. Have not taken a longer 2 up ride with the new custom seat. The passenger seat is 4 inches wider has more padding on short rides she likes it way better. Also got a sissy bar that the wife seems to like better. Bottom line if you take a lot of longer rides in a 2 up configuration then the XC is probably going to be more comfortable. If you are like me and only take longer rides occasionally the KP is comfortable enough in my opinion. Look at the show off my KP thread and you can see a bunch of different configurations. Good Luck.

Thank you all for the great information! I was actually thinking of either getting the Cross Country or the Kingpin. I know the Cross Roads is less exspensive, but I figure if I am going to get a long haul bike I might as well get one with a radio and batwing. Honestly, I don't think I would be doing a lot of long haul runs since we aren't empty nesters as of yet. No doubt I will be 1 up most of the time. Hmmm... Guess I can't go wrong either way. Both are sweet rides.cheers

Have a XC, wife had a KP, now with a Vision, thinking of maybe going back to a KP. Confusing, yep. the KP was great for her and me once I put a Mustang seat with drivers backrest on it. We rode hers two up local for awhile, no complaints. She rode hers on a 5K tour out west a few years back, with the Mustang, no complaints at all. Overall, a very comfortable bike with great style. Hers came with a shield, backrest and leather wrapped bags, 2005. Bags were kinda small, would go with larger aftermarket leather if we do it again. She rode it 55K, no issues.

Tough choice, good either way.

I love my 07 KP. 2 weeks ago, put about 900 miles on it riding 2 up. Wife and I did a ride with riders from (edited per forum rules). Up along Lake Michigan across the pennisula up to Lake Superior and back west along the lake to Marquette. We were comfortable.
I did have a Platinum Air Ride suspension installed. Made a huge difference.
