I have the PCV with auto tune installed and I am trying to use the PCV to add or not add fuel on start up based on engine temperature. I have tapped into the sensor per Dynojets instructions and need to input the voltages associated with the sensor. I have contacted Dynojet and they do not have an answer for me. I am trying to perform lloydz cold bike start up procedure with the PCV and start the auto tune when the bike is fully warmed up. I can't believe I am the only one that has thought of doing this.
Does anyone have the correct voltages per temperature that you input into the software? I have called and e-mailed Lloydz and they are too busy or don't have the answer. Arlen Ness won't help because the PCV is a non California compliant product :rolleyes:. Trying to get in touch with the factory is impossible.

Thanks in advance if you have the numbers. I will post a how to with pictures once I get it dialed in. cheers

Sorry, I don't have the numbers but can't you check the volatge of the sensor cold and then check voltage again at warm/hot and get your "calibration curve"? The warm voltage would set a trigger point for the PCV?

The way I did it, was I wasn't about to get crazy with setting them up to temperature. I took a laser temp gauge and did a few start up's on a few different days and got a round about #'s for length at startup for the AT and the start up fuel. I think my setup is 3 min for the AT to start sampling and my start up fuel is 6% (maybe 8%?) for 45 seconds.

Mine starts great, I probably should have stated above that I only really use it in the spring and fall (live in Canada) when the mornings are cool. It acts like a choke and bumps the idle up a bit to help on start up...

I'm assuming like most temp sensors that it doesn't so much output a voltage but rather varies internal resistance to alter the resulting voltage. That being the case it would be pretty easy to determine the resistance curve and then calculate the voltage curve.

1) remove the sensor but leave it plugged into the bike's wiring.
2) attach a multimeter set to DC volts to the two terminals of the sensor
3) place the sensor in a water bath of known temperature and record the voltage drop (bike key on, bike NOT running)
4) subtract that voltage drop from 12, this is your output voltage at that temperature
5) repeat for as many different temps as you want/need to develop a curve

Make sure you let the sensor sit in each bath for a bit to normalize to that temperature or you may get a false reading. If you plan on developing a temp-voltage curve you will need a bunch of data points. 2 = line, 3 = rough curve, 5+ = good curve

It is between the jugs and very hard to get to. Second, I have considered to use a heat gun and volt meter to get the voltages at different temperatures. But, laser sensors are not that accurate and can very from one gun to the next and are very expensive. If I do it this way I wont get temperatures in the colder ranges unless I put ice on the sensor and take the voltage. There has to be another way that somebody has gotten the numbers. I did see a post from a dealer that installed a PCV on a water cooled motor and posted the voltages for -40 degrees to 250 degrees but that was not on a victory engine and sensor. By the way the sensor and analog input on the PCV is only 5 volts not 12.cheers

Only had my bike about two months so I've had little reason to go searching for any of the components. I agree that a laser sensor is not terribly accurate but if taking the sensor out is not on your list of reasonable steps it may be close enough. Remember, the actual temperature is kind of irrelevant as long as you have a reference to current ambient temperature to compare it to. For that matter, since you're primary concern is cold starting when it's especially chilly out, let the bike normalize to said chilly temperature and measure the output voltage. That's the number the PC would then be looking for. To give it a cut off temp where the idle returns to normal, get the bike up to a "warm" morning temperature and to the same thing. Now you have your "its cold, boost my idle" output voltage as well as your "i'm warm enough, go back to normal" output. Unless I missed something in your original post that's all you really need.

You don't need to attach that input to the PC. It defaults to 1 minute which works fine.

do you need startup turned on ? mine fires right up whether its 20 degrees or 90 degrees, ive tried mine with and without startup by time and never really noticed much difference.

Mine starts up a little ruff in the morning ever since I put cams in. That is why I am trying to do this and I would also like to see the engine temperature when I am hooked up to my laptop. I have been trying to get in touch with the R&D department at Dynojet to see if they have an answer. Lloydz could not give me an answer because they never hook up to that sensor.cheers
