Hey all- Just ordered a PowerCommander 5 + the autotune module. Im looking for any advice with the install on my 08 vegas.

I've reviewed the PVC instructions and it seems straight forwards, I figured it would be wise to start a compiled guide and track some things to assist myself and the all the users here.

My initial thoughts are:

1. Software

- Prior to install update firmware on PCV and load a close base map thats fits my mods. I'll check the maps that come with it as they seem to be expanded from the downloadable ones on PC website.

2. Hardware

- Mounting the PCV, Insure the USB port is easily accessible, possibly different from whats suggested by the manufacture.

- PCV Fuel injector Harness- Hardest to remove, Some people suggest using a butter knife or needle nose plyers to assist

-Autotune 02 sensors, insure to use anti-seize when installing these and be careful to not strip the old Narrow Band sensors when uninstalling.

-Auto Tune Power, I have a mini-fuse inline fusebox tap, I plan to tap into the switched accessories fuse circuit inside the fuse box. A self tapping screw can be used for the ground or the neg battery terminal

3. Tuning notes (Gathered from multiple site)

-If deceleration backfiring occurs after loading base maps and tuning-
"Try zeroing out your 0% and 2% columns, both in the AFR table and the main fuel table, then just set your idle AFR to 13.2 (0% at 750-1250rpm) only. I think the Autotune tries to lean out the 0% and 2% columns too much because most of the time spent there is decelerating."

-TBD

Thanks in advance

Jeb, what model bike do you have? I have the PCV with AT on my XC with the Lloydz cams. Install was a bit of a challenge due to space issues.

As far as mounting locations, I have a High Ball which should be relatively similar to yours. My PCV unit is located under the seat since I don't really need to get to that at all. My Autotune module is located under the right side panel behind the fuse box. There's a small ledge behind the fuse box that the AT sits in nicely. To get at the USB port, I take off the right panel, lift the tab and slide the fuse box back free from it's mount, lean the AT unit forward from it's ledge and plug in the USB. Very convenient and completely secure when I'm riding. Just be sure to plug the stopper back in on the USB port before you put everything back as I'm sure water could get into the unit without it.

I ran the Front O2 AT sensor cable down the right hand side of the bike following the starter cable, then fished it up through the back of the shock area like the stock cables. I ended up having to using Visegrip pliers on the fuel injector clips, kept me from taking off the S&S airbox, i have no idea how this thing is mounted to the TB. More pics to come later.

I haven't tuned or tested her yet, my battery cable came apart and it busted a leg off the main circuit breaker... dont ask.

Tank must come off!

Stubborn FI clip took 15 min's to figure out.

Congrats on your purchase, you will enjoy the flexibility. I have a vision so I cant comment on space and mounting issues but I can recommend getting yourself an expandable USB cable to leave plugged in.
For example:

Get at least a 6-10 footer so you can sit next to your bike in a chair with a laptop. I used some heavy duty velcro and mounted in my saddle bag compartment. Easy to get to and coils right up for storage since they are spring loaded.

Here is my map and ignition tables for a 106. The pic has my config listed but my dyno guy uses this map on harleys too since most people ride at 2000-4500 <=20% throttle 90% of the time. This is why there are 14.x values there. The ignition table is from Lloyd. Fuel economy went from 180 miles per tank to 260 (5.5gal) and engine temp went from 200 to 225.
